About Rita

Portuguese cellist based in Brussels, sometimes in London. I do a little bit of everything, from solo to chamber music and orchestral work.

Born in Porto, Portugal; Rita started her musical studies at the age of ten and developed a lot in the three year long professional course at ARTAVE, in the class of Pétia Samardjieva. She then finished the course in 2018, and was offered a place at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama (London) in the class of Stefan Popov. Currently, she is doing her Masters degree at the Koninklijk Conservatorium Brussel, with Jeroen Reuling. Rita has performed solo and chamber music performances in some of the most prestigious halls in Porto, Santo Tirso and Lisbon, has been invited to participate in several masterclasses and had the opportunity to work with many renowed maestros as a member of the Orquestra ARTAVE, Orquestra APROARTE and Guildhall School Symphony Orchestra.

Do you have different line-up options?

Not really, since I mostly play solo. If requested i a group, this can be arranged.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

Let me know with time, and I will always try my best to be flexible and approach the situation the best I can.

How much time do you need to set up?

45 minutes

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

Yes, and also feel free to discuss personal requests with me.

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

Yes, I bring my instrument to play acoustically.

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

With the right amount of time, yes.

What do your clients love most about your performances?

I would say the most relevant feedback I get is that my performances are always very unique.

Casa da Música, Coliseu, Palácio de Cristal (Porto, Portugal), Centro Cultural de Belém (Lisbon, Portugal), Fundação Cupertino Miranda (Vila Nova de Famalicão, Portugal), Fundação Castro Alves (Vila das Aves, Portugal), among other.

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

Jacqueline du Pré and Mstislav Rostropovich are definitely my biggest inspiration, although I also feel very inspired from listening to Steven Isserlis and Alisa Weilerstein, among others.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

Most projects I work on are big orchestra ones or smaller ones in smaller stages, so I can't really say which one was the most high profile.
