Customer questions
What do your clients love most about your performances?
I can give different types of performance. I can play laid-back mellow jazz as a soft backdrop. On the other side of the coin I can play high energy Ibiza saxophone with big hooks to get people up. Between these extremes I can play a large repertoire of songs to match the vibe, whatever it may be, and clients are overjoyed when I cover their favourite songs.
Which venues have you performed at in the past?
A whole host of wedding venues. My favourites being Tower Hill Barns in Wales, Cheshire Woodland Weddings, and Peckforton Castle.
Music venues-wise I've played in Manchester at venues like Band on the Wall, Matt & Phreds, MEN arena, Yes, Deaf Institute, Gorilla. I've also ventured out to places like Futureyard in Birkenhead and Hootenanny in London.
Which artists have you been most influenced by?
Stan Getz, Sonny Rollins
What is the most high profile gig you've performed?
Playing in the backing band for Dennis Bovell when he was doing a UK tour - he's quite a big name in the history of reggae music so that was special. Besides that I played a concert at Bridgewater Hall with a massive 50-piece choir - quite an experience! Some big theatre shows as well (although you're not exactly high-profile in the pit!)
What if my timings change after I've booked you?
Absolutely no problem! I am very flexible and happy to adapt to make sure your event runs smoothly.
Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?
Yes if you don't have a separate DJ on hand, I am able to keep the recorded tunes running before and between through a portable PA.
How much time do you need to set up?
Ideally 20 mins in an empty room to make sure my sound is EQ'd properly, but I can (and have!) set up in 2 mins in a very crowded room, so again very flexible!
Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?
Yes! I will probably decide on the final order of things to try and get a good flow going between songs, but I'm very enthusiastic to play any songs you like!
Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?
I have a wireless mic that just requires an XLR input to amplify the saxophone through your DJ's PA system.
Can you learn song requests before the event?
Yes! Open to any ideas - obviously there are certain types of songs that lend themselves better to saxophone than others, but you'd be surprised how adaptable the instrument can be! Always happy to learn a song if it means a lot to you!
