Rich Somers
”Slick, soulful, confident, composed and visionary. These are just some of the words that don't go far enough to describe
the passion and emotion in every Rich Somers’s performance, live or studio”.
With a colouring of the blues, Rich Somers has developed his songwriting and performance into an honest portrayal of life ups and downs.
His second album release ,“Back on Bourbon Street”, has his distinctive soulful voice sitting comfortably amongst some exquisite acoustic blues licks, dirty keyboard riffs and a groove to seduce .
All complimented by some stunning backing vocals ,Back on Bourbon Street will have you believing every word , and feeling each emotion expressed in a collection of very well written songs.
Rich was born and bred in Brighton ,UK and still lives in the same coastal City. He spent 22 years working as an antique restorer, which allowed him to work all over the world including Bermuda, Barbados, Germany and Australia.
A keen traveller, Rich enjoyed packing a guitar and bag and travelling to destinations such as India, Mexico and Thailand among others where he would develop his songwriting. Most of the songs from his first album “Terracotta skies “ 2008, and the follow up album “Back on Bourbon Street” 2013 were composed whilst travelling.
These travels led him to play regular gigs at bars in Mexico, which helped to hone his performance.
Inspired by artists such as Eric Bibb and Matt Andersen, Rich has developed his live show, accompanied only by an acoustic guitar, Blues harp and a stomp box, he will often be heard telling a story introducing the song, then deliver with such emotion that will have the audience hanging on every lyric.
Heartily supported by Barry James at Radio Caroline , Rich has obtained a steady stream of tracks played on internet radio stations around the world as well as local radio stations.
The past few years has seen Rich playing a number of festivals including Cambridge rock festival ,Chiddfest, Labyrinth Blues, Arundel music Festival and Bognor Rox among others, sharing the same bill as Ben Poole , Chantel MacGregor and The Blockheads.
Hoping to get a calendar full of festival bookings for 2016.
With a handful of songs already written , a new album is planned for early 2017.
