About Rich

As seen on BBC Dragons' Den with his unique foot drum invention 'Stomp It'. A true 21st century one man band playing Americana & Rock.
Guitarist
Milton Keynes
Public liability insurance of £10 million

As seen on BBC Dragons’ Den in 2024, Rich Baxter brings his unique invention ‘Stomp It’ to his energetic live shows. Stomp It is a 5 piece drum kit played with your feet whilst Rich stands up and performs other instruments such as acoustic guitar, mandolin and harmonica and singing. A true 21st century one man band! Rich has been gigging since age 14 playing drums but switched to guitar in 2014 after a bout of cancer and following his dreams of performing music full time. In the last 10 years, Rich has made a name for himself on the Dorset scene where he lived during that time and now lives in Milton Keynes. He has released two albums ‘Land of the Living’ in 2016 and ‘Bru2al’ in 2020 during the lockdowns, both available on all major online platforms. During the last 10 years of performing solo and duo gigs on the south coast, Rich felt his shows needed more rhythm. Naturally being a former drummer, he designed and created ‘Stomp It’ giving him a very unique stage presence and sound. Watching Rich perform is just as entertaining as listening to him which comes across during his time on BBC Dragons’ Den which he feels blessed to have been featured on. Peter Jones described Rich as ‘Genius’. Rich has also recorded with Kurt Custer (drumming fame with Lynyrd Skynyrd and Steve Earle) in Nashville and appeared on several radio shows and TV. Performing his unique twist on Americana, Rock, Country, Blues and Irish, one thing you are always guaranteed with Rich is a foot stomping, upbeat and energetic show!

Great to see Rich on Saturday, a great performer, and clearly I’m not the only one that thinks so. Having sadly moved away, Rich popped back for an afternoon gig and found himself playing to a full house. His unique style and sound makes him one of the few performers able to switch from lunch to evening, mid week or weekend. I’d like to take this opportunity to thank Rich for his support during his time in Poole and wish him every success in his onward journey.

Such a delight to watch Rich rock out at The Dancing Jug in Charminster on Friday 19th April. He just grips the audience perfectly with his performance and knows how to work the room. A very talented man inside and out! Looking forward to more opportunities to support him at his future gigs down in Bournemouth/Poole

Customer questions

What do your clients love most about your performances?

The fact I play drums with my foot at the same time as playing guitar or mandolin, singing and harmonica. I invented my foot drums (named Stomp It) and its the one thing that gets mentioned more than anything else at my gigs. Otherwise they like my energy, song choices and the fact I have a mandolin too!

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

Steve Earle, Bruce Springsteen, John Mellencamp, Tom Petty, Chris Knight, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Kurt Custer

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

BBC Dragons' Den! I still count that as a gig as I performed and its opened many doors! :-)

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

I'm always very flexible so all I ask is you give me as much notice as possible.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

I can play songs from my phone (Spotify, iTunes etc) through my PA but I am not a DJ.

How much time do you need to set up?

1 hour

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

You can indeed. I have a backbone of a set I tend to enjoy sticking to and I play different songs around that if I'm not specifically asked otherwise. An example of songs I try and play at every gig are: Free Fallin', Big Yellow Taxi, Copperhead Road, Sweet Home Alabama, All The Small Things, Galway Girl.

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

Yes, I have everything I need which I bring to every gig. However, if you have stage lighting, I will happily use that too!

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

I can if you give me a few weeks notice and it falls into the typical genres I play.
