Riccardo Mazzoni is a double bass classic player. Born in Poggibonsi in 5/4/1992, he was introduced to music at the age of 9 when he started studying piano under the guidance of Alessandra Dezzi. He began his double bass studies at the age of 13 with Paolo Antonio Tommasi at the “Istituto Superiore di Studi Musicali Pietro Mascagni” of Livorno, where he graduated with honors in 2012 He then studied for three years under the guidance of Gabriele Ragghianti at “Istituto Luigi Boccherini” of Lucca. In these three years he followed master classes with internationally renowned musicians, like Ubaldo Fioravanti, Alberto Bocini, Massimo Giorgi, Thierry Barbé and Dan Styffe. Now he studies at the Royal College of Music in London where he won a scholarship for the audition and also received a scholarship from Mr. Thom Napper. In his career Riccardo has collaborated with distinguished conductors and soloists. Among these: Riccardo Muti, Salvatore Accardo, Alexander Lonquich, Enrico Bronzi, Leon Spierer and Josè Miguel Perez Sierra Currently he collaborates with various orchestras: “Luigi Cherubini Orchestra” of Piacenza under the guidance of Riccardo Muti, “Orchestra del Teatro Olimpico” of Vicenza with Ubaldo Fioravanti and Orchestra of “Festival Pucciniano” in Torre del Lago. At the same time Riccardo plays in various chamber music groups, among these the “Polianilich Quartet”, a double bass quartet which has been followed by Masters such as Gabriele Ragghianti, Alberto Bocini and Tiziano Mealli.
