From Llanfyllin, Mid Wales, Rhodri graduated with a BA Hons 2:1 degree in Music and Media from The University of Wales Trinity St David, Carmarthen. He has recently graduated with a First Class degree on the MA Vocal Studies course at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Rhodri is currently at The Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, studying with Tenor Adrian Thompson. Rhodri would like to thank Shirley Bassey directly for her support in awarding him the prestigious Shirley Bassey Award towards his studies at the Royal Welsh College. In 2014 Rhodri was awarded The Help Musicians Maidment Award. In 2015, The Help Musicians Fleming Award. And in 2016, The Help Musicians Tutton Award for whom he is very grateful for their continued support. Rhodri’s concert performances include Handel’s Messiah, Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Stainer’s Crucifixion, Orff's Carmina Burana, Gounod's Messe Sollennele, Bruckner’s Mass in F Minor, Puccini’s Messa Di Gloria, Haydn The Seasons, Mozart's Requiem. Rhodri’s opera roles include Nemorino, Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore with Opra Cymru; Triquet, Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin with Opra Cymru; Lleu Llaw Gyffes, Gwydion by Cwmni Theatr Maldwyn; and cover of Lensky, Tchaikovsky’s Eugene Onegin with Opra Cymru. Opera Chorus performances of Francesca Di Foix, The Adventures of Pinnochio, San Giovanni Batista and The Cunning Peasant with Guildhall School of Music and Drama, Verdi’s Macbeth with Opra Cymru, Gair ar Gnawd with Welsh National Opera, Don Pasquale with Longborough Festival Opera and l’Italiana in Algeri with Garsington Opera. Opera scenes include, El Remendado, Bizet with Opra Cymru. Almaviva, Rossini’s Barber of Seville, Jaquino, Beethoven’s Fidelio and Robert Devereux, Britten’s Gloriana at The Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
