Rhisiart Arwel

A native of Denbigh, North Wales, Rhisiart studied the guitar at the Royal Northern College of Music, Manchester with John Arran, and Gordon Crosskey, in London with John Duarte and in Madrid with Ricardo Iznaola. He has performed extensively in recitals throughout Wales and the UK and has appeared regularly on radio and television. He was also employed as a guitar tutor at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Cardiff. He has appeared as a soloist with the BBC National Orchestra of Wales on numerous occasions in concertos by Vivaldi and Rodrigo. During the 150th anniversary celebrations commemorating the establishment of the Welsh Colony in Patagonia during 2015, Rhisiart organised a series of concerts throughout Wales and Argentina. During the tour, Rhisiart performed music from Wales and South America and cooperated with several distinguished musicians from Wales and Argentina. Rhisiart is also a composer and his repertoire includes music from all parts of the world - with special emphasis on music from Spain and South America and has arranged numerous works, including Welsh folk songs for the guitar. Rhisiart released a CD on Sain Records in 2018. Entitled 'Etifeddiaeth - Herencia - Herritage', the CD includes a selection of popular music for the classical guitar. Rhisiart is currently preparing for a second CD release in 2020. Rhisiart's performances can include introductions/presentations in Welsh, Spanish or English.
