Renato D’Aiello Tenor Saxophone/singer Renato D’Aiello has become known as one of the strongest and most original saxophone sounds around. His treatments of jazz standards, and originals, both live and on cd, have won great admiration from audiences and the press. Renato studied with masters such as Sal Nistico, Tony Scott, Steve Grossman and Joe Henderson. He has played with great jazzmen like : Eddie Gomez, Art Farmer,Sal Nistico, Steve Grossman, Eddie Duran, Kirk Lightsey, Keith Copeland, Duffy Jackson, Tony Scott, Thomas Moeckel, Jim Mullen, Bruce Forman, Gene Calderazzo, Phil Lee, Gary Husband., Alain jean Marie. He has played in most of the major venues and festivals in the UK, and since May 2002 he has played regularly in Paris, receiving warm acclaim from Jazz Hot magazine and TSF radio. From July 2010 until march 2020 Renato has been running a very successful Monday night Upstairs at Ronnie Scott. MUSIC PRESS “Renato is a superlative saxophonist with a passionate and poetic soul. He has all the virtues - a beautiful sense of time and pacing and a technique which effortlessly projects his brilliantly flowing ideas.” Paris, Jazzhot magazine , April 2007 D'Aiello's weighty, behind-the-beat sound shows how a poetic imagination can rekindle a long-gone style without nostalgia ...... John Fordham, Friday March 16, 2007 The Guardian, Four stars review "...When you hear it on the subtly-simmering 'For Heaven's Sake' you know you're in the presence of a master improviser." Brian Blain, Jazz UK review, February/March 2007 issue "His solos tell a story. Their lines unfold with a natural flow, especially on the ballads 'For Heaven's Sake' and 'Portrait of Jenny'." Jack Massarick, Evening Standard, 2/2/07. Four stars review " Relaxed, unhurried but imbued with intense warmth tinged with poignancy, D'Aiello's tenor sound thus prioritises the expression of sentiment rather than the demonstration of instrumental facility...” “...He showcases one of the most attractive and affecting tenor sounds in contemporary jazz. Recommended." Chris Parker, Jazz CD review, Vortex, March 2007 .....D'Aiello has a highly dramatic manner of playing and a willingness to take risks which can make it seem as if he is overstretching himself; thus when he launched into Ellington's In a Sentimental Mood in the second set he placed himself on the critical block. The result was a breathtaking performance in which he displayed a stunning range of expression, infallible control over the instrument and a true feeling for the melody itself. He is a restless attacking player who uses not only the full, extended, range of the instrument but also a much wider dynamic variety than many other saxophonists. Linked with a technique that allows him to play at scorching speed and accuracy, the result was jazz of outstanding colour and excitement....... Paul Medley, The Oxford Times

Renato and his quartet were the perfect addition to our wine tasting event at the prestigious location of the Italian Embassy in Mayfair. Very responsive and supportive of our requirements and requests. Extremely talented musicians and well loved by the guests. I would gladly recommend Renato to any other event organisers, their style can flex to many different event types, whether a daytime event like ours or something in the evening - bravo!

We chose Renato to play at my husband’s birthday party, because my husband is a true jazz fan, particularly the saxophone. Renato D’aiello played the tenor saxophone with great depth and warmth, showing his years of experience and special talent. His repertoire and range from old school jazz to some more modern upbeat numbers, were all exceptionally played. Renato chose a keyboard player, Jake, to accompany him. Jake was also exceptional, and played alongside Renato very complimentary. On a practical note, Renato was excellent at communication and time keeping. He was generous with his time and music playing, and the ‘Happy Birthday’ touches were very endearing. I can only highly recommend Renato D’aiello, he is a brilliant musician. Thank you.

I'm a Year2 film production student. I did put an advert on Facebook, looking for a musician/actor for my short film. Renato D'Aiello replied and we decided to make the film on Nov 13th, 2023.  Renato arrived with his saxophone and a luggage full of clothes for me to choose the dress for the character and he keep his beard for the character's look as well. I can tell he has a great attitude and desire to the story and acting, he really cares about the film. Renato's musical performance was really impressive and creative, i was almost lost in his songs. In the story there are three songs, i told him about the tunes and feelings about the songs, and he could play the ideal music just fit for the story. He easily improvised a slow classic blues as the first song, which then developed into a groovy smooth calypso jazz. Renato then went on and performed a lovely bossa nova at the end of the film. i will never forget that song. He has a great passion for acting. Some shots were done several times and we had many takes due to different reasons. Renato always left a good look in the frame, that's precious for a man who act for the first time. Without hesitation, I  recommend booking Renato for any event seeking an exceptional musical related experience, he is a man with bravery to try new areas and positive, open mind Yijun

On Sept 29th '23, we had the pleasure of a return guest appearence from Renato D'Aiello at 'Jazz Cafe Sandbanks', Dorset. We have previously invited him over the last 10 years or so to guest with us & the house band as he is a great & versatile artist that always presents him self very professionaly in all aspects. He is always a pleasure to work along side & I would fully endorse & therefore reccommend Renato for any occasion. Yours Sincerely Andy Urquhart Trumpet/ band leader For JazzCafe.
