Regent's Jazz

We are a five-piece jazz group comprised of some of London's most sought-after young jazz musicians with years of experience play jazz clubs, corporate events, weddings, and private functions. We provide a professional and stylish addition to any occasion, from intimate gatherings to large-scale events. We are available to hire as a vocal-led or fully instrumental group, with or without drums. We can also provide other instruments (trumpet, guitar) on request. Suggested formats for larger events: Vocal-led quintet (Vocals, Saxophone, Piano, Bass Drums) Instrumental Quartet (Saxophone, Piano, Bass Drums) Or for smaller events: Vocal-Led Trio (Vocals, Piano, Bass) Instrumental Trio (Saxophone, Piano, Bass) AITZI COFRE REAL (Vocals) is constantly exploring the never ending possibilities as an improvising vocalist, Aitzi embraces wordless singing and is deeply inspired by the likes of Norma Winstone however, her influences are broad and her unique talent is a joyous culmination of her Latin-American roots as well as her love of singers such as Ella Fitzgerald and Shirley Horn. KASPER RIETKERK (Saxophone) is renowned for his collaborations with esteemed artists such as Eddie Chacon, John Caroll Kirby and Jean Toussaint, and has also been a member of the Emma Rawicz Jazz Orchestra. Kasper began playing saxophone at a young age and was inspired by the sounds of saxophonists like Cannonball Adderley, Kenny Garrett, and Paul Desmond. After completing his bachelor’s degree, Kasper moved to London and graduated from his master’s at the Royal Academy of Music in 2023, where he received an award for his final exam performance. BENJI BOWN (Piano) is a jazz pianist who’s varied musical education has furnished him with a distinctive musical voice. His first musical love was the guitar, and his childhood explorations into the music of blues guitarists like BB King and Robert Cray shaped his attitude to the piano, convincing him that it must be possible to make a mechanical, wooden box of metal wires into something vocal and fundamentally alive. Slightly later, his love of the classical piano tradition, particularly Bach and Chopin, gave him a sense of the harmonic rigour and textural imagination of the classical piano canon. This led him to study with renowned concert pianist Mark Swartzentruber as a teenager, before continuing study at Leeds University and, after a brief postgraduate detour through academic philosophy, Benji was awarded a scholarship place on the Royal Academy of Music’s jazz course. MATT HOLLICK (Double Bass) was a previous member of the National Youth Jazz Orchestra and has experience with the Emma Rawicz Jazz Orchestra, Fat Chops Big Band and Birmingham Jazz Orchestra. Furthermore, he has performed with artists including Jean Toussaint, Nikki Iles, Winston Rollins, Mark Armstrong, Neil Yates, Jonathan Mayer, Percy Pursglove, Nick Smart, Josephine Davies, Karen Sharp, Tim Garland, Martin Speake, Alex Steele and Mike Lovatt. Matt’s playing has featured on a 6 month residency on BBC Radio London with Leo Green in 2023, BBC Young Jazz Musician 2020 as part of the semi final and NBC Golf Channel, working with composer, David Birnie, with distribution from Bibliotheque Music. ALASDAIR PENNINGTON (Drums) has established himself as a unique and exciting voice on the drum kit in the UK jazz and improvised music scenes. Based in London, he has performed and recorded with many eminent international artists across genres including Helen Sung, Baptiste Herbin, Alan Barnes, Laura Jurd, Dennis Rollins, Michael Dease, Steve Wilson, Robert Mitchell and the Flaming Lips among many others. Alasdair has performed and recorded at venues, studios and festivals across England and beyond including Manchester Jazz Festival, Lancaster Jazz Festival, Abbey Road Studios, Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, Vortex Jazz Club, The Leadmill, Porgy & Bess (Vienna) Jamboree Jazz Club (Barcelona) and Take 5 Jazz Club (Stockton, California).
