Our musicians have previously performed with groups as diverse as the Heritage Orchestra, Malta Philharmonic, Peter Andre, Dave Swift, Sam and the Womp, Passamezzo, and the Halle, to name just a few. They have also performed and recorded at venues including Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club, Abbey Road, the Royal Festival Hall, the Royal Albert Hall, Matt and Phreds, the Bussey Building, and concert halls and festivals across five continents. Their musical backgrounds include the Guildhall School of Music and Drama, the Royal College of Music and the University of Cambridge. The group cite influences that range from trad jazz to postmodern jukebox, and everything in between.

Customer questions

Do you have different line-up options?

Yes, absolutely. We start from a duo (piano and voice, usually performing ballads or "easy listening" type music), adding drums for a trio for more up-beat swing numbers, and going up to a 9-piece band for a full-on big band sound on a budget.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

That's usually not a problem. Let us know as soon as you can, and we'll try and work around whatever you need.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes, absolutely. We can provide this for no extra cost, and if you send us an idea of what you're after before the event, then we can send you some hand-picked, curated playlists that you can have a listen through before the event. If you'd then like us to change some things for the day itself, just let us know.

How much time do you need to set up?

We usually need about 30-60 minutes to set up, check levels, and make sure everything's in order for the gig. After that we can run your curated playlist through the PA system before we start, or just dive right in.

Can you roam around while you perform?

Alas, no. Our dummer utilises a full kit and so needs to stay in one place, and our keyboard is a proper stage piano, which is a pretty hefty piece of kit! The singer, however, can move around with a wireless microphone if this is requested at the beginning of the process. For the trombone player to move around, you all might need to learn to duck!

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Absolutely. We pride ourselves on tailoring our set to specific events, and as long as it's on the set list, it can be played in the gig, in whatever order you like. We also let you pick 3 songs per performance as part of the package - we'll learn them just for you!

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

We bring our own instruments, cables and amplifiers. We don't have lighting, but we're used to some pretty low levels in jazz clubs, so if in doubt, have a chat with us and we'll see what's possible.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

Yes, absolutely! We love adding to our repertoire. You can request 3 specific songs that are NOT on our set list per performance, all included in the cost of the band. If you want more, we'll have to agree an extra fee to cover arrangement and rehearsal time.

What do your clients love most about your performances?

We're a group made up of professionally trained, experienced musicians with a love of performing together. We provide a slick, sophisticated experience and pride ourselves on our professionalism. And we love to tailor our set to exactly what YOU want most, whether that's smooth jazz to oil the wheels of your function, or upbeat numbers to dance to.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

As individuals, our list of venues is vast. A selection includes: The Royal Albert Hall The Bridgewater Hall The Royal Festival Hall Ronnie Scott's Jazz Club Jazz After Dark Matt and Phreds The Bussy Building Abbey Road Studios (Heritage Orchestra CD recordings) The Big Easy The Indo Bar ...And many more across 5 continents!

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

We love the smooth sounds of Ella Fitzgerald, the storytelling of Billie Holiday, and the inventiveness of Postmodern Jukebox.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

Our band members have performed live on BBC and ITV television, live on BBC Radio 3 and 4, for film soundtracks, for award winning CDs, and in jazz venues up and down the UK. To pick out one highlight would be too difficult!

Amanda was recommended to me a few years ago, and was invited to be our guest artiste. Her performance was outstanding. First, she had a lovely and engaging voice, but her stage manner was most impressive.

Mention should be made of (Amanda) Eloise's impressive musical talent - she shifts between a variety of instruments and her voice is one of the highlights.
