Get the party started, hire Quite Brazen today! History: Quite Brazen formed in Bristol back in 2008 as an acoustic duo with husband and wife team: Vocalist, Shelley and Guitarist, Ian. A move to Devon in 2010 inspired a change and they added bass and drums into the mix. The band have specialised in weddings since 2012 and have won 'Wedding Band of the year, South West' - twice. A spokesperson for the band said "It is always such a privilege to be asked to perform for a couples special day. We become part of a lifetime of memories which is a real gift as a musician". The pandemic came along and changed their direction for a while and are so pleased to have had the opportunity to continue performing consistently throughout that difficult time for various holiday resorts throughout Devon and Cornwall. About the band: Shelley - Lead Vocalist A seasoned entertainer with experience spanning over two decades. After early beginnings as a dancer, Shelley went on to study performing arts at College. Obtaining distinctions in vocal performance, acting and modern dance. Later, she was part of a lively 'Spice Girl' tribute act as 'Ginger Spice' and was an Iconic Butlins Redcoat. Working alongside many stars of stage & screen. She has graced the stages of some of the South West's most prestigious theatres. Namely, The Anson Rooms, The Bristol Hippodrome and The Bristol Old Vic. Her love of performing shines through. There is no doubting her impressive vocal command of the band's vast repertoire of songs. Shelley has also appeared as a presenter on local radio. Occasionally deps on vocals for other local bands and is available as a solo artiste. Ian - Lead guitar & Keyboards An accomplished multi instrumentalist, sound engineer and producer. Ian spent many years perfecting classical piano to grade 8 standard. He then heard what Slash could do with a guitar and fancied trying a bit of that! Starting out with original band 'Filer' who have written and recorded in Denmark's Puk Studios. Alongside the likes of Elton John, George Michael and Depeche Mode. Ian has performed on the same stages as Nirvana, Oasis and Starsailor (showing his age there!). Ian is typically found at our studio in Exeter writing new material and recording local bands. Craig - Bass & Backing Vocalist This Black Country boy has been playing and performing for many years. His origins as a new romantic, complete with frills and blue eyeshadow, are renowned. Its been suggested that he inspired Nick Rhodes from Duran Duran. He loves to really 'feel' the bass and plays with passion. Before joining Quite Brazen back in March of 2018, he was in a U2 tribute band, playing large scale events. He also provides the bass for classic rock band, Four Card Trick. Callum - Drums and percussion A Devon lad born and bred. Cal realised how much he loved music when he discovered Dookie by Greenday on his 8th birthday. His ability to tap out a rhythm on any inanimate object in the vicinity was a clue to his true vocation in life. Cue drum lessons and his first drum kit. Fast forward a few years; He completed his degree in professional musicianship with Honours from BIMM in 2018. Callum also provides the beats for popular local original pop band, Haytor.

Customer questions

What do your clients love most about your performances?

Our reviews speak for themselves but our clients always tell us that they loved the atmosphere that we brought with us. The sheer joy of getting people up on the dance-floor to pull shapes like no one is watching. We love to include guests and get everyone singing along and enjoying the party. We especially love to get a good dance off going!

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

Parkdean resorts Exeter Business Awards Bristish Showjumping (Bicton Arena) Ladram BayHoliday Park ICAEW (The Institute of Chartered Accountants) Sandy Park Exeter Launceston Road Runners Hundreds of happy weddings clients from the past 14+ years

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

We each have a wide and eclectic taste in music. We are lucky to have our own studio as well so we can write our own tracks and get to hear a lot of grass roots music. Impossible to pick specific artists as we do love them all. Rock, Pop and Funky tunes are where its at for us.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

We were pleased to perform for the Exeter Business Awards, where guest speakers included Christine Hamilton. We have also performed at the wedding of a well known Exeter Chiefs player where the guests included the cast of popular TV show, Skins.

Will the singer be the same as who I see in the videos?

Yes. Shelley is our main vocalist and is always leading from the front. Shes not missed a gig in 14 years! We do have 'dep' vocalist available in case Shelley falls ill or is unavailable. As a professional band our reputation means everything so you can be confident that all of our members are of a high level.

Do you have different line-up options?

Our 4 piece line-up is as follows: Vocals, Guitar & Keys (hes a clever boy, he plays both!) Bass, Drums. Our 3 piece consists of Vocals, guitar/keys and drums. The party duo is as expected with vocals, guitar and keyboards.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We always try our best to be flexible to help ensure your event runs as smoothly as possible. If timings change slightly in the run up to the event just let us know.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Absolutely. This is a really popular request and we actually offer this service for free.

How much time do you need to set up?

We usually set up about 1 to 1.5 hours before the performance time. As soon as our PA is set up we can provide a free playlist service to help set the atmosphere and get your guests ready for our live performance!

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Our set lists are crafted from countless performances and learning what works best to ensure guests dance and have an amazing time. However, we're definitely happy to chat through and make sure we find what works for your event.

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

Our PA and lighting system is included in your quote. We usually require a minimum of 3x5m2 space to perform where possible. If you need something more compact for your space - we offer a smaller version of the band (eg trio or duo).

Can you learn song requests before the event?

If a song isn't included in our song list there may still be a chance we already know it. If there is a special song you'd like us to learn and it fits our line up (eg we cant realistically replicate a 5 piece male harmony and we don't have a brass section) we are happy to do this for you at no charge.
