Ellen Tiso (20) started playing the clarinet at the age of 8 and is from Burnham-on-Sea in Somerset. She is currently studying at the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester. She previously studied at the Royal Welsh College in their Junior Course where she was taught by John Cooper for 5 years. At the RNCM she is taught by Antonio Salguero and Christopher Swann. Whilst at 6th college in Taunton, Somerset she maintained a busy musical life. Her A-Levels included not only Music but Music Technology and also the Advanced Musician Course, which enabled her to ,in the two years that she was there, accomplish distinction Grade 8 Clarinet and Grade 8 Theory as well as receive a Diploma in Clarinet Performance. In the holidays back in Somerset she is leader of the Somerset County Youth Orchestra and is a senior member on their tours. Last year she went to Holland and this year they will be going to Germany where she will be performing the Duo Concertante by Strauss for clarinet and bassoon. Ellen is deeply passionate about musical community work and in the holidays she also travels to different Care Homes and the Hospital in Burnham to entertain the residents with music that is familiar to them. She also makes the time to do it in Manchester with a friend. Prima is a huge part of her life and she enjoys every part of it especially the concerts: performing alongside her best friends and colleagues.
