Pickering/Dimbleby Duo

Joe and Rob met while studying jazz at Trinity Laban Conservatoire, and have been playing music together ever since. Inspired by the likes of Charlie Parker, Lester Young and Wynton Kelly, we love playing a wide variety of tunes, including Great American Songbook classics, swing and ragtime numbers, all the way through to bebop and post-bop jazz. We also play bossa novas and latin tunes, as well as anything you may request! About Joe: Joe is a Scottish jazz saxophonist and clarinet player based in London. Recently graduated from Trinity laban, he is a frequent performer with the National Youth Jazz Orchestra, with whom he has played alongside the likes of US Tenor Virtuoso Bob Mintzer and legendary Brazilian multi-instrumentalist Hermeto Pascoal. During his time on the London Jazz Scene, Joe has also played with big names on the trad jazz scene, including Enrico Tomasso and Ewan Bleach. Joe was also part of Tony Kofi's "Generation Monk", and performed at the Spice of Life in Soho in 2023. Joe leads his own bands (including this one), as well as being an in demand sideman. Joe is comfortable on all saxophones, although alto is his main specialism, perhaps down to his love of greats such as Charlie Parker, Cannonball Adderley and Phil Woods. About Rob: Rob is a highly sought-after pianist on the London Jazz Scene. He is greatly inspired by legendary pianist Wynton Kelly, although has developed his own unique sound and uncompromising time-feel that is a joy for horn players to blow over. Joe and Rob started this duo out of their love for jazz and swing music, and want to make this music accessible and enjoyable for all, as well as exploring in our improvisation and arrangements. Our aim is to play swingin' music, and create an enjoyable and versatile act, suitable for a variety of functions and settings.
