Philippa Smith

Versatile and eclectic harpist Philippa Smith was first drawn to the harp on hearing Tchaikvosky’s Waltz of the Flowers Cadenza at the age of 6. Many lessons and sore fingers later she graduated from the RNCM in 2008. She has performed with a wide range of artists across all genres of music, and has played in ensembles with legends such as Johnny Dankworth and Patrick Moore. Her orchestral experience is equally varied, recording with notable conductor Richard Bonynge, and playing in everything from operas to sci-fi conventions. At the other end of the spectrum, Philippa has also played mainstream festivals with headline act The Charlatans and also with Mercury Award nominated bands Blossoms and Everything Everything. She has also unleashed her inner 90's raver playing The Ministry of Sound Annual Classic at Manchester Pride Festival with The Manchester Concert Orchestra. Some of her favourite projects include being member of a 10 harp ensemble premiering a new work at Huddersfield International Contemporary Music Festival and participating in a world record 200 harp ensemble. She was harp number 64! Philippa is also a passionate wedding harpist offering a bespoke service to add an extra sparkle to your special day. Having played everything from Mozart to Metallica she is dedicated to tailoring the music to meet your needs.
