Phil’s voice is as big as his ukulele is small, and his love of vintage blues, hokum, old-time, and jug band music shines through in his intricate picking and driving rhythms on both uke and banjo. Phil has travelled all over the UK and to Europe and the US, performing and leading workshops at festivals, theatres, and clubs. He has appeared on several albums, performed on BBC radio and TV, taught over 1500 ukulele players, and shared the stage with some of the world’s finest players. “some of the best music I’ve heard in a long time” Dan Phelps, Delta blues artist Phil has appeared at The London Uke Fest, The Ukulele Festival of Great Britain, The Ukulele Festival of Scotland, The Great Southern Ukulele Festival, A Grand Northern Ukulele Festival, The Ukulele Hooley Ireland, The West Coast Ukulele Retreat California, Winchester Ukulele Festival, Essex Ukulele Festival, Tenby Blues Festival, The Acoustic Festival of Britain, Off The Tracks Festival, Aberjazz Festival, Sore Fingers Bluegrass and Old Time Summer School, and many, many theatre and club venues such as Liverpool, Manchester and Birmingham O2 Academies, Blackpool Grand Theatre, King George’s Hall Blackburn, Theater im Stall Neu Horst Germany, Derby Assembly Rooms, The Dukes Theatre Lancaster, Theatre Severn Shrewsbury, Parr Hall Warrington… He has performed live on various BBC regional radio stations, and has appeared on BBC and ITV TV, Radio 4 and NDR TV. (Germany) He is currently a contributor Uke magazine, and is the author of the book “How Music Works On The Ukulele” Phil endorses Aquila strings and Logjam stompers.
