Phantasia was formed in early 2023 by Emma-Marie Kabanova and Chris Hirst with the purpose of re-discovering lesser known music and finding "forgotten gems". Variety is provided by Chris switching instruments between theorbo and mandora, both of which can be played alone and combined with the violin.

What do your clients love most about your performances?

People always love the sound of our rare instruments, especially when we play covers of familiar tunes or foot tapping folk music.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

Some highlights include a garden overlooking the Bosporus Sea in Istanbul, or a birthday party on the Golden Hind where all the guests were dressed as pirates! We love playing for any wedding and getting to be a small, but important part of someone's special day.

Do you have different line-up options?

Our core members are Emma-Marie, violin and Chris, lute. We can also add harpsichord or a vocalist if required.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We always try our best to be flexible to help ensure your event runs as smoothly as possible. If timings change slightly in the run up to the event just let us know.

How much time do you need to set up?

We usually set up about and hour before a performance starts or an event begins.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Our set lists are crafted from countless performances and learning what works best to ensure everyone has an amazing time. However, we're definitely happy to chat through and make sure we find what works for your event. We are always happy to play your favourite song!

Can you learn song requests before the event?

If a song isn't included in our song list there may still be a chance we already know it. If there is a special song you'd like us to learn we are happy to do this for you. There is a fee of £30 for this service to take into account rehearsal times etc.
