A Graduate of the University of Durham; Peter studied Music at Grey College. Peter studied electro-acoustic composition under Prof. Nick Collins, and Orchestral and Choral composition under Prof. Richard Rijnvos, and Dr. James Weeks. Peter also specialised in the ouput of English composers (with a focus on Benjamin Britten) under Prof. Jeremy Dibble, and in Music Theology under Prof. Bennet Zon. Peter began his musical training whilst a chorister in the world-renowned Choir of King’s College, Cambridge, where he toured to Asia, America, and Europe. It was during his time at King’s College School, that his passion for composing began, the embers born for his passion for writing liturgical choral music. In 2011, Peter was awarded a music scholarship to Bedford School, where he continued to compose regularly; exploring a number of genres and styles such as Jazz, Chamber, and Orchestral composition. Peter subsequently gained a place at Durham University to read music, where he is currently focussing on both acoustic and electronic composition, with emphasis on composing for screen and sound design. Alongside composing, Peter has particular interests in ethnomusicology, Music Theology, English Art Song, and the chamber operas of Benjamin Britten. As a composer, Peter regularly writes within styles and genres, with particular influences taken from antiquity, such as plainsong and modern developments in film music . Recent works include: string quartets; music box; liturgical choral works; symphony/chamber orchestral works; electronic art music; acoustic and electronic film scoring; and animation and sound design projects. As a performer, Peter sings regularly with the Choirs' of St Chad’s College, Durham; and of St Hild and St Bede, Durham; which in 2017, he held the position of Junior Organ Scholar. As an oboist, he has played with the Bedfordshire Symphony Orchestra, under Michael Rose; and with the Durham University Palatinate Symphony and Chamber Orchestras, touring to both Jersey and Prague. In the Summer of 2018, he passed the DipABRSM Music Performance Diploma on Oboe.
