Public liability insurance
Oboe and cor anglais player based in London.

Penelope completed her undergraduate degree in academic music at Durham University before becoming a postgraduate performance scholar at Trinity Laban Conservatoire. At music college, Penelope played with the Contemporary Ensemble, Symphony Orchestra, and side-by-side schemes with members of the BBC Concert Orchestra and the Philharmonia among other projects. She also enjoyed playing in a number of chamber music groups, including an oboe trio, oboe and strings quintet, and wind quintet, as well as taking advantage of opportunities for cross-arts collaboration. Penelope was also selected to play in masterclasses with Celia Nicklin and Patrick Flanaghan. Since moving to London in 2016, Penelope has been active in the London music scene, having played with numerous orchestras across the city - including performances with the Covent Garden Chamber Orchestra, Horton Chamber Orchestra and London Graduate Orchestra. Last summer, she participated in the British Isles Music Festival, and has since been principal oboe with Ashdown Sinfonia and London Opera Ensemble. She is currently Principal Cor in Universities of London Symphony Orchestra. Recently, she performed as oboe soloist in a multi-disciplinary performance as part of National Portrait Gallery Lates. She has played at many notable venues across the UK, including The Sage, Gateshead, Maida Vale Studios, Alexandra Palace Theatre, Cadogan Hall and the Barbican - as well as at Snape Proms, St Jude's Proms and the Bloomsbury Festival. Aside from performing, Penelope has co-facilitated many collaborative workshops for children and adults - with a special focus on those who are disadvantaged and socially excluded. Her commitment to community music and accessibility has also seen her take part in projects with the Brixton Chamber Orchestra, and the BBC Proms Family Workshops. Currently, she is Principal Oboe with the Street Orchestra of London - which takes music to those who might not otherwise experience it in schools, care homes and outdoors. Penelope also has a keen interest in a broad range of performing arts, and has worked at several music and arts festivals. Penelope is grateful to have been supported through Trinity College London, Alice Gertrude Pauline Hartley, Robert Stopford Westminster, the EMI Sound Foundation, the Macfarlane Walker Trust and the Carne Trust.
