Pavel Ljubicic

I’m a professional drummer based in London, UK, with over two decades of experience behind the kit. I started playing at a very young age after discovering my father’s drum kit, and music quickly became a lifelong passion. Fittingly, I was named after legendary drummer Cozy Powell, who remains one of my biggest influences. My musical background comes from a wide range of artists and styles. Growing up listening to Rory Gallagher, Led Zeppelin, The Doors and Deep Purple, I later developed a strong interest in progressive rock and metal through bands such as Pink Floyd, Rush, Dream Theater, Porcupine Tree, Steven Wilson and Opeth. Drummers including Ian Paice, Gavin Harrison, Neil Peart, John Bonham, Stewart Copeland, Mike Portnoy and Cozy Powell have all had a major influence on my playing. I’m a versatile live drummer, comfortable working across rock, progressive rock, metal, indie, pop, funk, alternative and everything in between. I enjoy adapting to different artists and situations, whether that means playing a tight, straightforward groove, handling complex arrangements and odd time signatures, or bringing the energy needed for a big live show. I’m a confident sight-reader and can work comfortably from charts. I’m also used to learning songs quickly and accurately, making me comfortable stepping into dep situations where preparation and reliability are particularly important. I understand that being a good live drummer isn’t just about playing the right notes - it’s about listening, reacting, locking in with the band and helping create a great show. Over the years, I’ve performed and recorded with artists and projects across the UK and internationally, including work connected to Portugal, Italy, the Czech Republic, France and the United States. I’ve played everything from original music and tribute projects to dep work and live performances, giving me experience adapting to different bands, musicians and performance environments. My approach to live playing is simple: be prepared, be reliable and play for the music. I take pride in turning up knowing the material, being easy to work with and giving every performance the energy it deserves. I’m available for live gigs, dep work, touring, tribute and function bands, original projects and other live performance opportunities.
