Singer
London

Hello! My name is Paul. I'm a London-based full-time singer, songwriter, pianist/keyboardist and guitarist. I'm available as a performing artist (originals & covers) both with my band Dead Writers and as a solo act. I also offer private music lessons and songwriting services. My musical journey began at the age of 7, when I started taking lessons at my hometown's classical music conservatoire. I studied Piano, Flute, Music Theory and Vocal Training for 10 years, achieving Grade 8 qualifications. At the age of 15, I started teaching myself to play guitar and my musical direction turned towards playing popular music and becoming a professional musician and songwriter. Moving to London after university opened up the doors for me and gave me a lot of new opportunities to develop my music career. To this date, I have worked, performed and recorded with many talented artists and founded my own rock band Dead Writers, which has gained interest from several magazines and radios, having recently been praised personally by Nick Cave and featured on his Bad Seed TV channel and official web site. I have also written, arranged and recorded music for short films and advertisements, and have performed at multiple live events (small to medium-sized venues, festivals, restaurants, hotels, private parties, etc), both as a solo artist and with Dead Writers. I have always loved music in general and can play different styles; I specialise in rock, folk, classical, blues, latin music and jazz. I am a passionate performer and can deliver with and engaging, expressive style. I learn quickly, can improvise, play by ear and take requests - my cover repertoire includes a wide variety of all-time classics! My teaching experience spans 6 years working mainly as a private tutor and also in primary and secondary schools around London. I teach Piano, Singing, Guitar and Music Theory to both adults and children. My approach to private lessons is to deliver professional, friendly and dynamic lessons that inspire the learner to develop a passion for what they are doing whilst giving a sense of purpose. I like to call it 'building a relationship with your instrument'. I enjoy seeing my students make progress and have a wide range of resources to fulfil their expectations and help them succeed in their own terms, from useful technique tricks to all kinds of learning games for the youngest learners. Great teacher well practiced in introducing beginners to the piano and tailors lessons well for what I want to get out of them.

What an amazing music teacher. We have a four year old so it's pretty tricky finding a teacher that can engage at that age - After a couple of false starts we found Paul a friendly and brilliant teacher who enables our son to make the choices about what he wants to do, has an infectious enthusiasm and a hugely professional manner. Paul seems to be able to play and teach just about any instrument. If you're looking for a teacher for your kids stop here. Paul teaches at a school as well as tutoring and so is highly qualified and experienced.
