Customer questions
What do your clients love most about your performances?
Clients value my clear communication, calm rehearsal style, and ability to help players feel confident. I aim to make rehearsals focused, positive and practical, with clear musical goals and a strong sense of direction.
Which venues have you performed at in the past?
I have performed and worked at venues including Belvoir Castle, Lincoln Cathedral, Harlaxton Manor, St. Wulfram’s Church, Lincoln Arts Centre, Boston Arts Centre, alongside many schools, churches, theatres, concert halls and community venues.
Which artists have you been most influenced by?
As a conductor, I’m influenced by musicians who combine clarity, warmth and strong musical storytelling, including Leonard Bernstein, John Williams, Benjamin Britten, Gustav Holst, Ralph Vaughan Williams and Edward Elgar.
What is the most high profile gig you've performed?
One of my most high-profile performances was at Nottingham Royal Concert Hall. I have also worked in venues including Belvoir Castle, Lincoln Castle, Harlaxton Manor and Oakham Castle, across concerts, formal events and community music projects.
What if my timings change after I've booked you?
I always try to be flexible where possible.
If rehearsal, workshop or concert timings change slightly, let me know as soon as you can. I’ll do my best to adjust and help the session run smoothly.
Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?
This usually is not relevant for conducting bookings.
For concerts or workshops, I can help advise on background music, walk-in music, interval playlists or pre-recorded material if needed, but I do not provide a DJ service.
How much time do you need to set up?
For most conducting bookings, I arrive at least 30–45 minutes before the start time.
This gives time to meet key people, check the space, confirm timings, look over any practical details, and prepare properly before the session begins.
Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?
Yes. For conducting bookings, repertoire is usually chosen by the ensemble or organiser.
I’m also happy to advise on repertoire, running orders, rehearsal priorities, programme shape, and music that suits the available players.
Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?
Yes. For conducting work, I usually only need a suitable score, clear sightlines, and enough space to conduct.
If a stand, baton, iPad, or other practical items are needed, I can bring those with me.
The only exception may be if a podium is required and this should be provided by the ensemble or performance venue.
Can you learn specific pieces before the event?
Yes. I prepare the agreed repertoire before the booking.
If you have specific pieces, arrangements, cuts, repeats or programme details, send them in advance so I can study the scores and plan the session properly.
