About Patrick

London based cellist, chamber musician and teacher. BMus (hons) - Royal Academy of Music. Currently studying towards a master's degree
Cellist
London

Upon beginning the Cello at the age of eight, it became immediately apparent that Music was not only something that Patrick had an interest in but also had a talent for. After just over a year of playing, it was suggested to him that he auditions for Chetham’s School of Music and it was at this point that he decided to pursue a career in Music. Having begun studies with Sue Lowe, Patrick moved to study with Nicholas Jones (head of strings) for his final few years before auditioning for a place at music conservatoire. Having received scholarship offers from all three colleges he applied for, there was no doubt that the Royal Academy was the right place to continue his studies, under the tuition of Felix Schmidt. In addition to his solo work, Patrick is also a keen chamber musician, performing regularly as part of a string quartet and piano trio. Recent concerts include a performance of Brahms clarinet quintet with Maxim Vengerov and of Brahms Clarinet trio in Manchester. During his time at Academy, Patrick has been given the opportunity to work with musicians such as Christoph Richter, Sung Won Yang, Semyon Bychkov and Sir Mark Elder, and these experiences enable him to make tasteful musical decisions in his everyday practice. Future engagements include a series of Paris concerts with his piano trio Cordiera and a festival performance as part of a cello ensemble. This year Patrick is working towards a master’s degree under the tuition of Robert Cohen. Special thanks must go to Help Musicians UK among others, whom have helped to fund his journey up until this point.
