Patrick Davies is a dynamic and versatile clarinettist based in London. Busy as a chamber and orchestral musician, Patrick's musical theatre work sees him doubling on a wide range of clarinets, saxophones and flutes. He has recently performed with the London Symphony Orchestra and Shanghai Opera House. This year he has played principal clarinet with the London Musical Theatre Orchestra, Pro Youth Philharmonia, and London Mahler Orchestra, as well as competing in the final of the Westbourne Concerto Competition. In May he was invited to perform at a chamber music festival in Warsaw with the Heron Trio. Last year Patrick enjoyed his BBC Radio 3 debut playing works by Julian Anderson under the guidance of the composer. Concerto appearances have included Stanford's Clarinet Concerto with the Innovaris Orchestra, Giacinto Scelsi's Kya with the Guildhall School's Ubu Ensemble, Weber's Second Clarinet Concerto with the Bournemouth Youth Orchestra, and Mozart's Clarinet Concerto with the Leighton Buzzard Sinfonia. Patrick recently graduated with distinction from the Guildhall School of Music and Drama's Masters programme, where he was awarded the prestigious Concert Recital Diploma. Whether in the theatre pit, on the recital platform or in the recording studio, Patrick brings to his music passion, excitement, and a joy of exploration that has taken him from the classical cannon and its contemporary descendants, through jazz and blues idioms to world folk traditions, improvisation, and composition. He is an experienced multi-instrumentalist, playing a wide range of woodwind instruments including saxophones, flutes and recorders, and stretching as far as blues harmonica and bamboo flutes. He is also a dedicated teacher.
