About Paola
Paola is a talented violinist with solid and elegant interpretation skills, working mostly in London as a freelance performer and violin teacher. She has performed and organised many concerts across Europe (UK, Italy, France, Switzerland, Austria, Poland and Germany) as a soloist, chamber musician and orchestral leader. Her prime interest lies in chamber music. She has played in many ensembles, performing from baroque to more contemporary repertoires and she has also won renowned competitions, such as “Castiglione delle Stiviere” and “Città di Castello” (Italy 2008) and “Harold Craxton Prize” (London 2012). In 2012, she founded alongside pianist Albert Lau the Apeiron Piano Trio, a lively ensemble determined to pursue an international career. In 2014, Paola expanded her collaborations by joining diverse musicians to propose different sonorities and styles. In the summer of 2015, she performed baroque music as a soloist at the Umbria Summer Festival in Italy. As a result, Paola is currently performing in different orchestras across the UK, such as the New London Orchestra. In Italy, she has been the leader of the “Young Italian Orchestra” in 2008 and she has joined professional orchestras, such as the “Teatro Carlo Felice” Symphony Orchestra (2009). In her career, she played under the baton of Sir C. Davis, L. Segerstam, A. Fisch, D. Oren and Y. P. Tortelier. Paola is currently engaged with private events, performing on radio broadcasts, TV shows, cruises and for charities. In 2009 she took part in an experiment conducted by the University of Belfast on how emotions affect musicians and, subsequently, are perceived by the audience. Trained as a qualified teacher, she is currently working for two organizations in London, both specialised on string teaching: the London Music Masters and a primary school in the London borough of Hackney. Inspired by the Suzuki method, both projects aim to teach kids from a very young age in group and individual lessons. In 2012, Paola completed a Masters degree from the Royal Academy of Music in London, under the tutelage of Joshua Fisher. Previous to that, she got her Violin Italian Diploma at the “Conservatorio N. Paganini” of Genoa at the age of 22, brilliantly completed. In June 2014 Paola, with the Apeiron trio, had the privilege to be coached by H. Beyerle, J. Meissl, A. Kouyoumdjian, R. Gothoni, and J. Pernoo in a European Chamber Music Academy (ECMA) session at Universitaet fuer Musik und darstellende Kunst of Vienna. Apart from that, Paola had many solo and chamber music workshops or masterclasses with well-known international musicians, such as M. Uchida, K. Smietana, E. Schmieder, Y. Zhislin, D. Takeno, HU Kun, A. West, I. Brown, “Quartetto di Cremona”, “Florestan Trio”. In parallel to her music literacy, Paola gained a Philosophical Masters Degree at the “Facoltà di Filosofia” of the University of Genoa 110/110 cum laude (July 2008), specializing in philosophy of music. Paola plays a violin by Romeo Antoniazzi (Cremona 1902) and, since September 2015, is a European String Teachers Association (ESTA) member.
