Orlando Shamlou is a pianist and teacher based in London, UK, where he studies privately with Alasdair Beatson. He studied for his Postgraduate Diploma at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music & Dance with Sergio de Simone, and graduated from the University of Leeds (BMus Piano Performance) with First-Class Honours in 2012 . He studied with Jimmy Brière and Paul Stewart at the Université de Montréal, Canada, where he also attended seminars on piano performance and technique given by Marc Durand. He has participated in festivals in Valencia and Gijón, where he worked with teachers including Julian Martin, Dominique Weber, and Robert McDonald. He has worked closely with composers, accompanied for soloists and choirs, and played frequently with orchestras. He has performed Martinů’s Piano Concerto No. 3 with LUUMS Symphony Orchestra in Leeds Town Hall, and played orchestral piano in Stravinsky’s Firebird, Bernstein’s Symphonic Dances from West Side Story, and Saint-Saëns’ 3rd Symphony.
