Omar Rios is a Nicaraguan guitarist and composer living in London. He started playing the guitar at 11 years old and has played in several countries throughout a 17 years of career, including Nicaragua, Colombia, Russia, the United States, Belgium, Spain, Costa Rica, Honduras, and the UK. His music is influenced by flamenco, rock, jazz, fusion, and Latin American music, among many others. Omar released his first solo album of instrumental guitar music called “Free Soul” He collaborated with the pianist “Alex Wilson in the London Latin Jazz festival last year. He played in important venues around london as: Pizza Express live soho, holborn, Union Chapel, Jazz Café and many others. He has a Degree in Music as a music educator from (Upoli) Politecnic University from Nicaragua. He recorded his new Ep at “Fish Factory Studios” London.

On 16th October 2022 my brother and his wife celebrated their 40th wedding anniversary. They block-booked a restaurant in Maida Vale for the day to entertain 40 family and friends. On my recommendation Omar Ríos Melendez was hired to provide the entertainment for the event. And he did not disappoint! Omar covers all genres from Latin to jazz and classical and everything in between. He is a virtuoso guitarist and projects a perfectionist type of personality that is plain to see in his performance. When performing Omar conveys great emotion and never fails to light up the room. He puts all his soul into his playing. By the end of the evening all the guests were in awe of Omar’s talent and guitar skills. His performance on the day was truly captivating. I have long admired his passion and dedication to his art.
