Olivia has played the cello from the age of eight and studied with Robert Max at the Junior Royal Academy of Music for four years. She is currently a pupil of William Conway alongside studying for a medical degree at the University of Edinburgh. In 2008 she gave one of her first solo performances in the Purcell Room at the Royal Festival Hall and a couple of years later was appointed principal cellist of the Barbican Young Orchestra which was conducted by Sir Colin Davis in 2010. She has also been principal cellist of the jRAM Symphony Orchestra. She has made festival appearances in Germany and Poland as well as in the UK, and is a regular performer at the Edinburgh Festival Fringe. Olivia has been invited to participate in a number of National Piano Trio Society master classes and has also been lucky enough to perform to musicians including Prof. David Strange and Peter Cropper, as well as working closely with members of the London Haydn Quartet. She is currently principal cellist of Edinburgh University Chamber Orchestra, and has successfully reached the final round of auditions for the 2015/16 European Union Youth Orchestra.
