Olivia Carstairs

Mezzo-soprano Olivia Carstairs graduated in 2022 from the Royal College of Music, studying with Veronica Veysey Campbell. At RCM, Olivia played roles such as Orfeo from Gluck’s Orfeo Ed Euridice, Medoro in Handel’s Orlando, and Meg in Adamo’s Little Women. She also premiered Joseph Dawson’s ‘Three Songs for Olivia’ in RCM’s Songs for Travel, covered 3rd Spirit in RCM’s opera Die Zauberflöte, chorus in A German Requiem by Brahms conducted by Thomas Zehetmair, and performed in Vaughan William’s Five Mystical Songs conducted by Natalie Murray-Beale in chamber choir. Last summer, Olivia was a vocal coach at French Woods Performing Arts Festival in New York, this winter was a vocalist at Thursford Christmas Spectacular and most recently, Olivia played the role of Amelfa from Rimsky-Korsakov’s The Golden Cockerel with Orchestra VOX. Originally from Dorset, she has performed with Hurn Court Opera in their Acis and Galatea (2018), Dido and Aeneas (2021), Don Pasquale (2022) and is excited to be part of the cast for their La Boheme production. This winter, Olivia will be returning as a vocalist for Thursford Christmas Spectacular.
