About Oli

Violinist
London
Public liability insurance of £10 million

Oli Langford, from Cobham, Surrey - studied at the Yehudi Menuhin School where he was so good that he won a scholarship to attend the University of Southern California. Which he did. Many say they were trying to get rid of him. Later, back in London, he finished off his formal education at the Guildhall School of Music and by 1998 had launched headstock first into a musical "career in the city”, working with many high profile artists such as; Stevie Wonder, Elton John, U2, Adele, Ed Sheeran, Florence + The Machine, Imogen Heap, Mumford & Sons, George Michael, The Gorillaz, The Penguin Cafe, Andrea Bocelli, Dizzee Rascal, Elbow, Jamie Cullum, Coldplay and Dame Shirley Bassey, to name but a few. His violin inviolacy laces the scores of over 150 movie soundtracks including; Star Wars - Solo, Dunkirk, James Bond; Spectre & Skyfall, The Martian, Hunger Games, Iron Man II, Les Miserables, Mission Impossible 5 & 6, Shrek IV, Terminator, The Hobbit, Batman – The Dark Night Rises, Harry Potter etc. A few years back, Oli caught the attention of Damon Albarn and was invited to lead the orchestra for an elaborate Opera; "Monkey! Journey To The West", performed at the Théâtre du Châtelet & the Royal Opera House. Oli & his Bengal cat; Lord Louie, run a small recording studio from their North London house where Oli does all his best work and has achieved the respect of the industry as; composer, arranger, transcriber, dream catcher and realiser, especially for his work with; Tom Baxter, whom he has partnered musically for 15 years. (Currently refining the difficult 3rd album: ‘The Uncarved Block’.) Furthermore, along this rich vine of cultivated grapeness, 2012 marked the release of his collaboration with Arthur Jeffes (Penguin Cafe) on the album ‘Sundog’, a remarkable and splendid thing that everyone should immediately purchase through the proper channels. Oli recently wrote and recorded strings for Take That’s track ‘Hope’, and a further 3 string arrangements for Gary Barlow’s forthcoming solo album. Oli was the violin coach & body double to Geoffrey Rush, who plays the part of Albert Einstein in Nat Geo’s 10 part series; ‘Genius’ directed by Ron Howard.
