Ock Street Band was formed in 2014 and are currently Ben Nielsen - vocals, guitar, bass guitar and Kay Davies – vocals, ukulele, mandolin, bass ukulele, treble recorder & tin whistle. They play covers, playing songs they like in an acoustic, slightly country, slightly folk style, as well as writing and performing their own songs and recorded their first ever EP, ‘From Scratch’ in 2019. Their sound is acoustic with lots of vocal harmony, with Ben and Kay alternating who sings lead vocal to give both variation and their own take on different songs. They play what they love how they love and enjoy nothing more than sharing the joy that playing together brings them. They play at festivals, pub gigs, private parties, wedding ceremonies & receptions, and any other special events.

Such an enjoyable evening seeing this band. They skipped through the genres from Dolly Parton to Razorlight. Making each song their own with some quirky instruments and beautiful harmonising. They weaved in some of their own songs which sounded great. Looking forward to seeing them again.

Ock Street Band were a key part of our Community Open Day at Cowley Road Methodist Church, keeping our visitors and the whole of Cowley Road entertained! We were enormously grateful for their commitment and energy which greatly enhanced our event. They were wonderful to work with, friendly and passionate about what they do. We would highly recommend them.

Customer questions

Do you have different line-up options?

If you require a little more than a duo, we have a 3 piece option with cahon. this gives our sound a more up tempo feel which might suit your event.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We do our best to be flexible so please feel confident to get in touch and discuss any changes.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Absolutely! this is included in our package and helps to keep the atmosphere of the event going.

How much time do you need to set up?

We need 1 hour to set up. however as soon as the PA is set up we provide a playlist to get the atmosphere warmed up whilst the rest of the set up goes on.

Can you roam around while you perform?

No - we prefer to be set up in one place.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Our set lists are prepared based on our experience of what works best in each setting. however we are always happy to chat this through and see how we can tailor things to your event eg including the host's favourite song.

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

Our PA and any lighting is included in your quote.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

If a special request is already part of our song list then we are happy to include this for no extra charge. However if you need us to learn something new then there will be an additional £30 fee added per song to take into account rehearsal time.
