Nigel Beer

I have run our successful Soul and Motown outfit for more than 30 years now continuously without any down time. I have managed all situations and aspects associated with running a 10 piece band and have gained knowledge progressively as the years have progressed. I have worked with many musicians in this time and have gained an in-depth understanding of what is required to be a band member as opposed to just having the apparent talent. In Nigel’s case I’ve been lucky in finding a musician who in my opinion possesses both attributes. Nigel Beer came to us via a tip off from an already existing band member and we have not looked back since. He has brought a new and refreshing dimension to our unit with his hard work, attention to detail and a mature understanding of how a band chemistry works associated with the tensions and politics that arise pretty much continuously. So far he has been a pleasure to work with and I have no evidence why that should change. He has done everything I have asked of him and is now a fundamental and well valued member of our happy family. Because of my experience as you can understand I don’t suffer fools and posers in our industry easily and this man is neither and somebody I consider as an asset. He is versatile, accurate, with good expression and feeling about his playing. He has the ability to feel his way too which is essential for what and how we play. But on top of all of this Nigel is willing to put a shift in knowing that tomorrow we and he will be better and continuously improve. He has the ethic of accepting that you are never quite good enough and keeps looking forward. Another fine attribute that Nigel has is that he doesn’t talk about money first. Although Nigel does his best to earn his living via his playing like me he is genuinely music first money later which is a credit to him and his playing. This is a boy who will succeed.
