Nicole Johnson

Nicole is a pianist and vocalist, based in London. She is currently studying at Trinity Laban Conservatoire of Music and Dance under the tutelage of Eugene Asti, for a BA (Hons) degree in Classical Piano. Specialising in accompanying and repetiteur work, Nicole enjoys regular employment in accompanying choirs, and working with opera/musical theatre companies (Puzzle Piece Opera, Opera Dinamica, Clockwork Opera, Quay Players) as well as individual instrumentalists and singers. She enjoys singing in chamber groups - from 2009-2012 she was a key member of an all-female a-cappella septet , arranging many of the works performed by the group. Alongside her studies, Nicole also currently holds positions as full-time accompanist for the South-west Songbirds Choir, and rehearsal pianist for both Mill Hill Amateur Dramatics Society and the Quay Players Amateur Dramatics society. Past appointments include accompanist for Skipton Ladies' Choir (2010-2014), restaurant/hotel pianist (2008-2014), and various private social events. Nicole also has a passion for teaching and educational work/outreach - see below. She holds an enhanced DBS check. • A private practice of around a dozen students – predominantly children aged 4-12, with a couple of adult students – and almost 2 years’ teaching experience (2014 – present) • Currently studying for LTCL • Created and put on a theory-based fun musical workshop for a group of primary-aged children (2015) and took a workshop (‘Introducing ‘the Musical’!’) round primary schools in the area as part of an ‘Engaging Audiences’ project (2014-15) • Led a community workshop for the elderly and disadvantaged, focusing on group singing (December 2015) and took part in Trinity Laban’s ‘Retired Not Tired’ programme, accompanying and assist-leading community choirs in their Christmas concerts (December 2015) Nicole is available for weddings, birthdays, anniversaries and private functions; as an accompanist for ABRSM and Trinity-Guildhall exams, as well as local and national competitions; and is a registered member of ISM. She is also part of 'Serena Musica', a flute and piano duo.
