Although a professional musician for most of my life, in my previous professional life I worked in advertising in the pharmaceutical industry. Boring as this sounds (it wasn't boring, just not for me), along with having studied Marketing Management in university, has given me a very client-focused mentality when it comes to the business side of my skills.
Part of my work includes teaching drums privately, which is the first thing I started doing after leaving the advertising world. This has led me to write for magazines including Modern Drummer (US), and Drummer (UK), which has been a great experience.
As the teaching side of my business developed, whilst playing in my full-time band, Mercy House (which I quit in 2014), I started branching out and playing sessions, primarily with independent artists, which part of my work which I really enjoy. Since then I have met awesome people over the years, and made some great friends and contacts too!
Thanks to my work ethic and ears, I've been privileged to work on some sessions at Abbey Road studios with internationally-relevant producers, engineers, and artists.
Most recently I have joined the covers circuit, which I find lots of fun. My repertoire includes the typical classics from the 60s through to contemporary hits (which I will be adding to the 'Repertoire' section soon), and the list continues to grow.
I am very dedicated as a musician, to my instrument, and to those whom I work with and for. I love being creative, and helping artists achieve their musical goals. As a result I'm very song-oriented, and sensitive to the needs of my clients. This is something I hope to continue to do until my body gives up.
Thank you for reading.
