Lorraine has been delighting the music world with her accomplished, elegant, and stylish sound. Having performed on National stage and television in Ireland in the 80's and 90's, and after raising three children, a chance meeting with her idol Barbra Streisand in Italy a couple of years ago, reignited Lorraine’s passion to focus once again on her own music. She released a compelling collection of original songs and covers, in the autumn of 2018 under Lorrai followed by numerous gigs. In her early career she played the lead role in Snow White at Dublin’s National Theatre and then went on to perform on National television Live at 3 and The Late Late Show She has honed her sound into a smooth and soulful blend of jazz and pop with a distinct Celtic flavour - a nod to her Irish roots. Her own songs, tackle universal topics like love, loss, pain, and physical attraction, and musical influences have been diverse – she cites Earth Wind & Fire, Celine Dion, Whitney Houston, Frank Sinatra, Andrea Bocelli, Pavarotti, and the King of Pop himself, Michael Jackson but her two biggest influences are Barbra Streisand and Ella Fitzgerald, hence the recent jazz set she has compiled with her band Lorraine and The Flames, covering many of the great melodies from The Great American Songbook and her tribute show to Streisand. Her band is headed up by musical director John G Smith on piano. He is currently Associate MD for Hamilton, Tina Turner and Juliet. He has toured with Sting, Michael Buble, Katherine Jenkins, Elaine Paige and many others and he has composed scores for series on Disney Channel and Nickleodeon. His recent album Big Band Hip was nominated for an award. Tamir Smith on double bass, recently graduated in Music from Cambridge University was the winner of the Michael Williamson Instrumental Scholarship. Whilst at Cambridge he was a leading light in the recently formed Jazz Society and was the Musical Director and bassist of the Cambridge University Jazz Orchestra for two years. In London, he was bassist for The Jazz Section, a musical which ran at the Union Theatre. Drummer James Powell has worked with alongside his father Georgie Fame and his brother, Tristan Powell on the guitar in the Georgie Fame Trio since the '90s, appearing on several superb collections, including Three Line Whip and Walking Wounded.

I go back some years with Lorraine as I produced and directed a pop video “Peaceful Paradise” for her, that was produced by Bill Whelan of Riverdance, U2 and Kate Bush fame. It was in the Top 20. Having attended many of Lorraine’s shows in London, the one show that stood out for me was “Lorraine Sings Streisand” at the Crazy Coqs, Soho, where she exhibited great stage presence and vocal range. She sang twenty-two wonderful songs, curated by herself and her M.D. John G Smith. They were all superbly executed but the highlight of the evening was the song she dedicated to our friend Camilla and me, “The Way We Were”. It was a very special moment in time. She had such a connection with the lyrics that, of course, she managed to ruin our eye makeup. Lorraine really engages with the audience and she brings a unique energy to the stage that sets her apart. The musicians comprised of John G Smith on piano (Musical Director of Hamilton and Tina Turner, West-End musicals) Tamir Smith on Bass (his son) and Georgie Fame’s son, James Powell on drums. At another one of Lorraine’s shows, Lorraine and The Flames at The Pheasantry, it happened to be my late father’s anniversary. I was so honoured that Lorraine dedicated a song in memory of him. He was a trumpeter, and a great lover of Jazz. She sang “I’m Going to Live Til I Die” – which was exactly how my dad lived his life. Her singing was so emotive and powerful and the band’s rapport was very evident through their exchanging glances and seamless and tight blend of vocals and instruments. I am very much looking forward to the next gig!!

Lorraine was absolutely sublime performing her show ‘Lorraine Sings Streisand’ at the Crazy Coqs. Her performance and voice were both utterly outstanding! She completely captivated the audience. In addition, the musicians Lorraine sang with were of the highest calibre. I’m very excited to see Lorraine performing again soon!
