Solo and continuo player working mainly in central Europe. After an undergraduate degree at Edinburgh, Neil Coleman undertook several years of performance studies at the Royal Academy of Music, Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, Switzerland, and the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London, thanks to a series of scholarships. After working as harpsichordist for Past Pleasures Limited at Hampton Court Palace, I soon established myself as a soloist in Britain and on the continent; background events as this and wedding receptions were soon outnumbered by solo, ensemble, and orchestral appearances, mainly in central Europe. In Britain, he was in-house harpsichordist at the Handel House Museum from 2004 till 2009; solo engagements included recitals for the Finchcocks Young Artists' Series, a Couperin anniversary celebration at St. Cecilia's Hall for Edinburgh University, and solo recitals - played from memory - for the British Clavichord Society, and the British Harpsichord Society, as well as the Deutsche Clavichord Societät in a palace in Saxony. Since then, he has concentrated his attention on historically inspired improvisation, and playing historical instruments on the European mainland.

Every note, from the most assertive bass chords to the subtlest diminuendo in the treble, sounded with perfect clarity – undoubtedly a tribute to player and instrument ... The keyboard repertoire of Mozart’s day draws on a vocabulary that we immediately recognise. Because it contains so many familiar elements, it is particularly important for the player to elucidate all the nuances of the music. Neil’s sensitive interpretation, and the exceptional clarity of the sound, ensured that no subtlety was lost.
