About Naz
Füsun Naz Altınel was born in 1990 and started studying the viola at the age of 11 with Prof. Nuri Iyicil. In 2011 she has gained her Bachelor`s degree with honours from Istanbul University State Conservatory. In 2012 she has started her Master`s degree at Mimar Fine Arts University State Conservatory studying with acclaimed violinist Hande Ozyurek. After a year she has applied to Erasmus Student Exchange program and got accepted to do Post Graduate Diploma in Performance at the RNCM and became a pupil of Asdis Valdimarsdottir. A year after she both gained her post graduate diploma qualification from RNCM and Master`s degree from MSFUSC. In 2014 she decided to do her second master`s degree and got accepted to RNCM to study with Garth Knox and David Aspin. She has attended masterclasses given by famous soloist and acclaimed teachers such as Lise Berthaud, Nobuko Imai,Vicci Wardman, Annette Isserlis, , Asdis Valdimarsdottir , Thomas Riebl, Katherine Murdock, Rusen Gunes, Siegfried Führlinger and Tatjana Masurenko. As an orchestral player she has appeared in prestigious music festivals and concert venues in US, UK, France, Austria. Germany. Azerbaijan and Turkey. She has taken roles as principal and co-principal in Festival İnternational de Musique Universitaire, Linz-Brucknerfest, Essen Young Euro Classics, Bosch Young Clasicists and Sieur Du Luth Summer Arts Festival. In November 2014 she has appeared as a soloist with Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic Orchestra at Lutfi Kirdar International Convention & Exhibition Center in Istanbul. In March 2014 she has invited to play in "Rising Starts" concert series in Cemal Resit Rey Concert Hall in Istanbul. A month later she has performed in BBC Radio 3 Concert Series in Opera North conducted by Kees Bakels. Recently she has taken part in the UK premier of Krzysztof Penderecki`s Seven Gates of Jerusalem at the Bridgewater Hall. Apart from her performance related activities she is keen on working in outreach projects. In January-June 2015 she had experiences working as project coordinator and workshop artist with Manchester Camerata under Learning & Participation department. In August 2015, she has been invited to pursue the same strand and worked in "Cultures in Harmony" outreach project in collaboration with American violinist William Harvey and took a role as interpreter, project coordinator and workshop artist/musician throughout the workshops ran under Classical Pleasures Music Festival in Cappadocia. In 2016 she has got the audition to do Professional Experience Schemes with Royal Liverpool Philharmonic as well as been involved in the workshops with "In Harmony" program run by RLPO. Now she is doing second year of her master`s studies at the RNCM both with bursary awarded by RNCM and "Music Scholarship For Young Talents" awarded by Borusan Culture and Arts Foundation as well as enjoys playing in various venues across the UK.
