About Nathan

Bagpiper available for gigs in the west of Scotland area 8 years of experience with 1st Troon BB pipe band. With a high skill set.
Bagpiper
Ayrshire, UK

I started my piping journey when I was 8, quickly progressing from the chanter to my own pipes. I’ve been playing for the band fully for around 5 years now, cementing my place as a starter for competitions and parades. I’ve developed my piping skills to be a technically good and confident bagpiper, being able to perform a variety of tunes like marches, reels, strathspeys, jigs, slow airs etc. Piping is my passion and something I will continue to progress at. I want to become and established player for a top pipe band and have gigs to play at every weekend. When people think of bagpipes they can feel emotions like happiness and even being a tear to their eye. I feel when playing a sense of pride in my instrument. I enjoy how it makes other people happy. I’ve played in many competitions (especially majors) with a few good results. Like 6th in the world championships this year and a win in the British. I’ve also been in parades like the armistice parade which is an honour to be in, remembering those who were lost. I have played in a variety of concerts for my band and school, doing my own solo performance to showcase my skill. I also do bagpipes as an instrument in music at school giving me a chance to learn advanced tunes and get them marked. My bagpiping is sure to impress wedding venues and other celebrations helping people getting married have their perfect day. I have a variety of tunes that are fit for any gig as I explained earlier. Overall if you are looking for someone who is sure to give you a great bagpiping performance get in touch with me

I hired Nathan to play at my son’s 21st birthday party. It was a thorough performance with lots of good tunes and vibes. Nathan started by playing happy birthday on the pipes for the cake being presented and then played some of his skillfull tunes to entertain the guests. This was a great performance and made the birthday party so much better and complete

Nathan played at the park hotel for our wedding party earlier this year. His performance was filled with skill and flair showcasing good sounding tunes and putting on and putting on a show for our guests that were very entertained.

Customer questions

What do your clients love most about your performances?

I offer a wide range of tunes both traditional, well known, entertaining like jigs that are upbeat and fast for a crowd to enjoy. I’ve been told my piping is a high standard and I am of well skill, offering a great show whatever I’m playing for people.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

I have performed in my school doing solo and group work in concerts. I’ve played in competitions around Scotland with my band as well as featured in parades and concerts with them. For solo prices I’ve played at the lochgreen hotel in Troon, the park hotel in Kilmarnock as well as many birthday party events and other celebrations.

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

My pipe band leader Christopher bone , who is a very experienced and well respected pipe major, has influenced me the most and has taught me everything I know on the pipes. I wouldn’t be able to play without him. My music teacher also has helped me get started and taught me more advanced tunes to show off my skills.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

I am just starting doing performances and gigs but I still am an experienced piper. The wedding I played at in Troon had a large guest list so that’s the biggest I’ve performed at and I’m hoping to expand where I play and how many people I play for.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

If timings are changed, I will be free, as it will need to be the weekend because of school or if it’s a night gig times can be changed to suit

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

No, bagpipe gigs do not require DJ services

How much time do you need to set up?

Around 10 minutes to get the pipes tuned and ready for playing with a few breaks in between the performance to re tune, making the pipes sound as good as possible

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

Yes of course, i will take requests from whatever tune you want played from my list. If a tune you want is not on the list i can learn it for your gig.

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

Yes, all I need is my pipes which I take to the gig. I need no extra equipment to play.

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

Yes, if a song you would like played is not included in my list. Let me know and it can be learned by me beforehand.
