After some primarily self taught studying, I took a music degree at Canterbury Christ Church University, with the majority of my modules being performance based. Throughout my time at university I had a varied and exciting musical life; Cello lessons with John Cullis, leading the cello section of the orchestra, weekly chamber music sessions with Martin Outram, as well as regularly performing improvised and avant-garde music with the Canterbury Scratch orchestra. To make money outside of the academic year, I found myself paid recording sessions with budding rock and folk musicians, as well as trying my hand at playing cabaret and weddings.
Since graduation, I have been taking cello lessons with Jeremy Brooker, aiming to enrol in a post-graduate performance course in 2016. I continue to play with the university and community orchestras, and any ensembles that need a cellist. I have a strong an interest in British music, particularly that of Bridge, Britten and Delius and I am committed to improving my technique and musicianship to the point where I can realise the music to the best of my ability.
