About Natalie

Cellist
Glasgow

Natalie started playing cello with John Mustard through the school music system in Moray, Scotland. She then moved to Jacksonville in Northeast Florida where she joined the Jacksonville Symphony Youth Orchestra while simultaneously studying on the Cambridge University International Diploma. In 2016 she moved to Glasgow to study academic music at the University of Glasgow with esteemed lecturers such as John Butt, director of the Dunedin Consort. She currently studies cello performance privately with Arthur Boutillier, sub-principal of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra. Since moving to Glasgow, Natalie has played with the Glasgow Orchestral Society, with whom she recently performed Mahler's First Symphony in Glasgow's City Halls; Amicus Orchestra, with whom she recently went to Germany to perform in Leipzig's prestigious Gewandhaus; the National Youth Orchestra of Scotland's Symphony Orchestra, and several smaller ensembles. Natalie has played under fantastic conductors, including Elim Chan, Holly Mathieson, and Catherine Larsen-McGuire, and in venues such as the Royal Concert Hall and RSNO New Auditorium. She has also received instruction from sought-after teachers such as Nicholas Trygstad (principal cellist of the Halle Orchestra), Victoria Simonsen (cellist with the Rautio Trio), and Laurie Casseday (cellist in the Jacksonville Symphony). In 2019, Natalie will graduate from the University of Glasgow and move to Cardiff where she will study for a BMus degree from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama.

Customer questions

Do you have different line-up options?

I am happy to arrange chamber ensembles, but this will depend on the availability of my colleagues and I thus cannot make any guarantees here.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

If any timings change on the run up to the event, just let me know and I will do my best to help.

How much time do you need to set up?

I play an acoustic instrument, so provided that there is a chair and space available, I won't take more than 30 minutes to warm up and get ready. If I am playing as part of an ensemble, we may need a little extra time.

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

I can prepare any of the repertoire listed on my profile.

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

I will need a chair, but other than that, I can provide everything else.

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

If I haven't played a piece before, I will need a certain length of time to rehearse it. Please let me know in advance if there is anything you would particularly like to hear, and I will do my best to help.
