Nadia was born in Lancashire and started playing the clarinet and piano at the age of eight. By 15, she had gained her diploma on clarinet and was determined to follow a career in music. She went on to read music at the University of Birmingham specialising in performance on Clarinet, before moving down to London to study for a postgraduate diploma in performance on clarinet at Trinity College of Music with Michael Whight (Principal Clarinet of the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra) from 2003-2005. Since completing her performance studies in 2005, Nadia has pursued an active career as a musician and teacher. Orchestral playing includes the Hallé Orchestra, Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Northern Ballet Theatre Orchestra, New London Orchestra and London Musical Arts Orchestra and she is a regular member of the Orchestra of St. Paul’s based in Covent Garden. Nadia loves chamber music and is a busy chamber musician. As well as working regularly with pianist and composer Martin Butler with whom she will shortly be releasing a CD of 20th century British Clarinet repertoire, she is the founder member of the prizewinning ensemble, the ‘London Myriad Ensemble.’ The London Myriad Ensemble have performed all over the world and been recorded and interviewed on BBC Radio 3 as well as being winners of the 2nd International Israeli Music Competition in 1999 and resident artists with the Concordia Foundation. They regularly coach the wind chamber music course held at Benslow Music Trust in Hertfordshire three times each year. With these two ensembles, Nadia has performed recitals at prestigious venues, which include the Purcell Room, St. Martin-in-the-Fields, St. James’s, Piccadilly, and the residence of the British High Commissioner in the Seychelles. Nadia doubles on saxophone and flute and also enjoys show work, which has included regular depping work on the west end show, 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, clarinet and flute in 'Sound of Music' in Cairo and in Beirut, the clarinet / bass clarinet chair in the Sheffield Theatres 2013 production of 'Oliver' at 'The Crucible' Theatre, deputising on the UK tour of 'Annie Get Your Gun' (clarinet/bass clarinet/tenor sax) and deputising on both the UK tour and West End based versions of the successful west end show, 'Wicked.' (Bb, Eb and bass clarinet). She is also the tenor saxophone player in the Croydon based Northern Soul band 'Trambeat.' Nadia is very passionate about teaching and when she is not performing, she works as a woodwind, teacher in schools and music centres around London. She is a clarinet tutor and assistant conductor for the Camden Youth Concert Band, and outreach work has included working as a tutor for the Kenya National Youth Orchestra. Nadia is currently project co-ordinator for the 'Music for Life' project, supported by the Concordia foundation, working to support music education in Nairobi, specifically supporting music tuition at St. John's School in the Korogocho slum and supporting Kenyan students and teachers through the sourcing of instruments and skype lessons. Nadia is the pioneer of the ‘South East Clarinet Day,’ – a day course for enthusiastic student and amateur clarinettists . Nadia also has experience of providing music to babies and toddlers as a 'monkey music' teacher between 2011 and 2013.

Over a period of four years we have, as a complete group, attended three 3-day tutoring sessions with the Myriad Ensemble at Benslow Music Trust and because we are mainly clarinettists Nadia spent much time with us all. We benefitted greatly from her teaching, both with the technicalities of the instrument and in all aspects of musicianship, and I can say without any hesitation that my own playing improved enormously! I now play with much more authority and a better understanding of how to get the best from my clarinet. Her teaching style is friendly and she has great empathy for the student, whatever their level - and our group has varying levels of competence! Her own musicianship is, of course, second-to-none and she was able to move with such amazing ease between the different pieces we were playing - from Bach and Mozart, to jazz and ragtime and contemporary folk tunes, and much more, playing sections that demonstrated her complete understanding of each genre. We hope to be able to have more tutoring from her in the near future.
