Myron Evans

I am at my most relaxed state when surrounded by music, whether it be listening, composing or performing. This interest came about from listening and being exposed to a range of different musical genres including Gospel, Jazz, Soul, Classical and many more. I have been playing the piano since the age of 7 and have been following my passion ever since. My first performance was playing trumpet as part of a large orchestra at the Birmingham Town Hall and since then I have played at a wide range of productions from fashion shows to concerts since, playing both piano and trumpet. I joined the Burton Youth Band around the age of 13, and the Burton Youth Jazz Orchestra (BYJO) at the age of 14. While playing with BYJO, I discovered that I enjoyed playing jazz on both piano and trumpet. I performed in gigs with them at Burton Town Hall, and also at the Brewhouse Arts Centre. At the age of 16, I was asked to Music Direct (MD) the band for the British Union Conference Pathfinder Camporee in 2016. Accepting this opportunity opened multiple doors for me and allowed my gift to be exposed to my fellow Seventh Day Adventists. Since then, I have had the chance to MD at every Prayer and Faith Conference since 2016, and from these successes I was given the same responsibility again at the South England Conference Teens Day in the same year. Being the Music Director for these events has enabled me to develop communication and leadership skills, especially in a band setting, and expand my creativity.
