Myles Tyrrell

I'm a classically trained musician versed in lots of different styles of music, from funk and rock to pop and jazz, and of course classical repertoire too. What I absolutely love about performing for events is helping everyone to have an amazing time - the joy of having live music is incomparable and my aim is to make an amazing experience every time. After completing my training as a musician, I went on to do further performance awards (Diploma standard) and have been regularly gigging in Hampshire and beyond since 2015. I've been lucky to perform at a wide variety of venues, including: - On board the historic ship SS Great Britain in Bath - In a field with cows for an outdoor wedding in 50mph gales (that has to be one of the funniest events I've ever done - I've never seen a cake fly before!) - For Bill Bryson's talk at the Ocean Harbour Hotel in Southampton by the charity Leukaemia Busters, providing background light jazz for a classy soirée with the fantastic writer himself. - As an organist in many different churches for weddings, funerals, baptisms, and other events. Requests range from the usual Canon in D, cinema music from the 1950s, to Dizzee Rascal! I enjoy a varied career portfolio - I run a music studio in Southampton (Myles Tyrrell Music) where I teach around 45 students of all ages and abilities, and I regularly accompany for exams. My work as an accompanist has taken me all across the country and I recently started working as a répétiteur (the fancy term for a rehearsal accompanist) with the Welsh National Opera with their Youth Outreach Team which has been incredibly rewarding. I worked as Director of Music at St. James Church in West End for 3 years before stepping down to take on more performance and teaching work.
