About Murphy James

Singing guitarist

Public liability insurance of £10 million

Hi, my name is Murphy and I'm a full time professional Singer/Acoustic Guitarist. I performed as resident musician for Royal Windsor Racecourse from 2011-2018 and continue to be resident for the Ministry of Defence at Victoria (Windsor Castle), Wellington (Buckingham Palace), Aldershot & Warminster Barracks. I was asked to play as the main act at the Tour de France for the after event entertainment in Yorkshire to 16,000 people and was given an Endorsement by Cole Clark Guitars who are also represented by Snow Patrol, Jack Johnson & Ben Howard to name a few and was also asked to represent London Live Music in The Dot London Awards (headed by Sarah Willingham of Dragons Den). Most recently I was awarded the "Best Act of 2019” by Poptop UK, one of the UK's most notable Live Music Agency's and performed at Knebworth House earlier this year as a resident Act for the Great British Food Festival. I am currently also the resident performer for the Huddersfield Giants Rugby Club as from 2022. I have a vast and eclectic repertoire of 2000+ covers that stretch from 60's till today's charts and have been performing on a full-time, professional basis for the past 20 years. I perform across the whole of the UK and Europe and prices start from £250 for a local gig (2 x 45 minute sets). I look forward to hearing from you.

Customer questions

What do your clients love most about your performances?

I play off of requests. I love to get the audience involved in the playlist.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

I've performed in some very high profile venues. I am a resident singer for the Great British Food Festival and performed at the likes of Knebworth as well as Buckingham Palace and Windsor Castle as a resident singer for the Ministry of Defence. I've even been flown to play for the troops in Afghanistan.

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

My taste in music is extremely eclectic. It ranges from Neil Diamond, The Beatles, Simon and Garfunkel to Coldplay and The Killers.

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

Probably after Harry & Meghan's wedding. I performed for the troops that had performed during the days proceedings.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

With as much notice as possible, this shouldn't be an issue, unless I have another gig booked directly afterwards or before.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

In short, yes.

How much time do you need to set up?

30 minutes from arrival

Can I pick the pieces you play from the set list?

You can indeed.

Do you bring all the equipment you need to perform?

I do. I'm self-contained.

Can you learn specific pieces before the event?

I'm more than happy to learn one song per event.
