About Motje

Motje has rich experience in solo and choral work and is an expert in singing Lied, Oratorio & Early Music.
Singer (Mezzo Soprano)
Leicester

Motje Wolf is a Mezzo-Soprano Soloist with an international background. She draws from a rich experience in solo and choral work, especially as a former choral scholar at Leicester Cathedral with which she performed for HM Queen Elizabeth II, the Duke of Edinburgh and the Duchess of Cambridge. Motje has appeared on radio services on BBC4 and sang live on Channel 4 during the re-interment of King Richard III at Leicester Cathedral. Motje feels at home when performing English lute song repertoire as much as when she sings German baroque cantatas (following historically informed performances practice) and particularly enjoys singing Lieder. She has appeared as an oratorio soloist and recital singer. Motje performs regularly with her renaissance ensemble Fabula Musica and her art-song collective Anthology of Song, as well as Leicester Cathedral Choir and Luminatus Vocal Ensemble. In her performances, Motje likes to explore themes touching the listeners’ hearts and souls. She has the talent to take an audience on a journey of emotions from sorrow-stricken passion and melancholy to pleasure and joyfulness, never failing to bring her audience back into reality. Her concert programmes also reflect her academic interest that was sparked during her MA in musicology (University of Leipzig) and followed up in her PhD (De Montfort University Leicester) in music education. Motje currently studies with Alexander Massey in Oxford and researches Vocal Pedagogy at De Montfort University.
