Monika Chmielewska, violinist, was born 28th of October 1990 in Warsaw, Poland. She completed her Bachelor’s degree and began postgraduate studies at Fryderyk Chopin University of Music in Warsaw, Poland, and later continued postgraduate studies in the class of Krzysztof Śmietana at the Guildhall School of Music & Drama in London. In 2015 she received Master of Music degree, with a Concert Recital Diploma for an exceptional performance in her final recital. She is currently completing a Master of Performance at the Guildhall School. Monika has received many awards and prizes. She was a finalist of Yamaha Music Foundation Scholarship 2016 and Max and Peggy Morgan Award 2015. She is a semi-finalist of Vasco Abadjiev International Violin Competition, Sophia, Bulgaria 2015 and Jeunesses International Violin Competition, Bucharest, Romania 2012. She was awarded the third prize in National Violin Competition “Young Paganini “in Legnica, Poland 2008. In 2014/15 she was selected to participate in the London Symphony Orchestra String Experience Scheme, playing concerts under the baton of Simon Rattle, Gianandrea Noseda, Tugan Sokhiev and David Afkham. With the GSMD Symphony Orchestra she performed regularly in the Barbican Hall under the baton of renowned conductors such as Pietrari Inkinen, Yan Pascal Tortelier, Mark Shanahan and Dominic Wheeler, Leading the orchestra for the Gold Medal competition, and participated in an open reading session with Antonio Pappano. Recently she participated in two concerts with the Górecki Chamber Orchestra as part of the Devonia Concert series. In 2015 she was invited to take part in London Sinfonietta Academy. As a soloist she gave recital in Holland as part of the International Holland Music Sessions 2015. In December 2015 she recorded with string quartet “Cup of time-baroque revisited” in Warsaw, which was published by Pro Musicae Artis. She also played lunchtime recital at LSO St Luke’s and with string quartet at Buckingham Palace and St James Palace, as part of LSO events. She took part in Music Festival & Masterclass organized by Bartłomiej Nizioł and gave performances in Centre of Culture of Zbigniew Helbert in Kołobrzeg, Poland. She performed in Italy and Bromsgrove as a participant of international competitions. She took part in many master classes with M.Urbaniak-Lisik (Bern, Switzerland), R.Szreder (Holland), W.Wiłkomirska (Sydney), I. Ozim (Switzerland), J. Stanienda (Poland), B. Niziol (Bern, Switzerland), K. Śmietana (London), E. Darvarova (New York) and Sherban Lupu (Romania)
