About Molly Gone Mad

Alt-Rock/Funk trio handing out ear candy like there's no tomorrow, playing originals from their first album as well as the covers you love.
Original artist
Birmingham
Public liability insurance of £2 million

Molly Gone Mad is an Alt-Rock/Funk trio based in Worcester. They have been together just 18 months but in that time have got a lot done. over 100 gigs, not including the solo work they do as well, 50,000 Spotify streams in 6 months (unheard of for such a young band), as well as interest from overseas management companies and London based booking agencies. The guys grew up together. Tom and Oli are brothers, and Sam is a close family friend. So you know that you will find chemistry on stage that will draw your guests in too! They have fun whilst performing and you can see it, feel it, and it's infectious. But, they do this whilst maintaining the utmost professionalism. They want to do a fantastic job and make your special day, well, special. They draw on 40 years combined experience on their instruments and far-reaching influences which have made them the players they are today, constantly pushing to improve and evolve. Tom, the guitarist, teaches guitar when not performing and does solo functions such as weddings and corporate events, where he plays Spanish Classical guitar, as well as having a residency in a restaurant. Oli, multi-instrumentalist (I think it's 5 now?) performs alone as well, with piano or guitar with his voice which works wonderfully in the right setting. Feel free to inquire with regards to this also. Sam plays in another band playing the biggest 90s hits and teaches the drums as well. Lastly, they also have a residency as a trio playing instrumentals at a local restaurant, showing them to be the experienced musicians they are across the board. Molly Gone Mad know that this day is about you. So much time and effort goes into making your event everything you want it to be and this is at the forefront of their mindset. They want to accommodate you, make sure you have everything you need and that you are happy. They will organise a call with you as once booked to discuss any special requests or announcements that need to be made, with friendly, professional and consistent communication from the moment you book to the night of the show. The services we can provide: 3-piece alt-rock band playing covers and/or originals Singer/guitarist/piano PA system and sound engineer - save yourself time and money with additional kit hire for the band. Please don't hesitate to get in touch for any inquiry big or small.

I went to watch Molly gone mad play at the jam factory a little over two weeks ago. I was really impressed at how this young band carried themselves for their set. The set began with the drummer, teeming with energy, running into the crowd with his drumsticks tapping above his head, encouraging everyone to clap along and to get nearer the stage while the bass guitarist and singer played a funky, high-tempo bass line. The songs began with a jam, where the musicians showed off their skills and gave us a hint of what was the come. Next were three originals - ‘Side of Your Eye’, an upbeat rock/ reggae song, ‘Easy Sweets’ is a hard funk / rock tune with a memorable and intricate drum solo; followed by a slower, darker one with the beautiful, soulful vocals of ‘Gum’. The second half of the set increased in energy and showmanship. They began with a long 2 or 3 minute intro where the bassist and guitarist seem to be weaving in and out of each other’s lines. The bassist plays a repeated tap pattern while the guitarist joins with melodic lines around it, until the drummer cuts in with a handful of heavy tom whacks and ‘Eddie’ by the Chilli Peppers begins. There’s a gigantic guitar solo to finish and we come into their second cover of the night, the Cranberries’ ‘Zombie’. The energy rises again, the frontman dances around the stage during the lightning quick guitar solo after the second chorus and the songs ends with more claps from the crowd. The final song, my personal favourite, ‘Right to Delight’, starts straight afterward. The liquid Drum’n’Bass drum beat that starts in the chorus is unlike anything they have played yet, as full of vigour as the voice is of emotion. A long instrumental break followed by a last chorus and quick guitar solo ends the show. My main takeaway from the show is how put together these young musicians seem, the confidence they exude on stage, and how tight the set is. They aren’t perfect. There is some space for improvement, and I did feel they lost some energy in a couple of the songs. But regardless, they seem to be genuinely enjoying themselves onstage. An evening well spent.

For my birthday this year, I decided to try something different and thought booking a band would be fun and interesting. After seeing Molly Gone Mad perform at a local pub, I contacted them with my idea: a birthday party where they could play a mix of covers, originals, and a couple of requested songs. They loved the idea. Molly Gone Mad were punctual, polite, and a pleasure to have around. They were just happy to be playing music. I would absolutely book them again!
