Modern Vintage Dance Band are a covers band like no other. Channeling our retrogressive vibe, we re-create the music of today in the style of yesteryear using the insanely successful Scott Bradlee’s PostModern Jukebox (PMJ) as our inspiration. A real pop music time machine. Featuring eight of some of the most accomplished musicians on the Scottish and British scene, the bands’ artistry and fun will never fail to impress. Featuring virtuoso performances interjected with love, subtlety and a dollop of good old fashioned fun, MVDB are sure to provide the energy and feel to make your event go with a swing to be remembered! Hark back to the times when musicians and bands played completely live, no autotune, no backing tracks, just pure performance.

Do you have different line-up options?

Our standard 8 piece line up is Drums, Piano, Double/Electric Bass, Sax/Clarinet, Trombone/Percussion, Trumpet/Flugelhorns/Percussion with male and female vocals. Our 6 piece line up is Drums, Piano, Double/Electric Bass, Sax/Clarinet, Trumpet/Flugelhorns/Percussion with female vocals. We can also do other sizes from a duo upwards.

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

We always try our best to be flexible to help ensure your event runs as smoothly as possible. If timings change slightly in the run up to the event just let us know.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Absolutely. This is a really popular request and we actually offer this service for free. If you'd like a DJ service via our PA after the final set until the venue closes, we provide this for an additional £100.

How much time do you need to set up?

We usually set up about 1 to 1.5 hours before the performance time. As soon as our PA is set up we can provide a free playlist service to help set the atmosphere and get your guests ready for our live performance!

Can you roam around while you perform?

Yes - we either perform acoustically or with microphones attached to our instruments so we can move around freely.

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

We play from the Postmodern jukebox repertoire. if there is a tune you would like that we don't do, we're more to happy to look at that for you.

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

Our PA and lighting system and sound engineer is included in your quote. We usually require a minimum of 4 by 8m space to perform

Can you learn song requests before the event?

If a song isn't included in our song list there may still be a chance we already know it. If there is a special song you'd like us to learn we are happy to do this for you. There is a fee of £60 for this service to take into account rehearsal time and writing / transcription.

What do your clients love most about your performances?

Our style and energy as well as the extraordinary musicianship on display. It's always fun!

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

Collectively our band members have played everywhere from small pub gigs to thousand seater stadiums.

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

Post modern Jukebox, jazz and swing!

What is the most high profile gig you've performed?

We headlined the Jazz stage at Belladrum tartan heart festival 2018. Shortly afterward, we were also invited to play a private party for the festival's organisers.
