MixTones is West London’s feel-good a cappella group: community-focused, joy-minded and brought together by a love of making brilliant music with other people. Founded in 2025 and led by professional musical director Louise Barclay Johnson, we believe some of the best music happens when people come together. Our performances are full of warmth, personality and connection, both with each other and with the people we're singing for. With no instruments to hide behind, every beat, bassline, melody and harmony is created by the human voice, from rich ensemble singing to vocal percussion and beatboxing. Our repertoire is deliberately eclectic. We love putting our own vocal spin on everything from pop classics and contemporary favourites to jazz standards, film music and festive songs. Whether we're creating a huge wall of harmony or stripping a familiar song back to something intimate, our aim is always the same: make great music and leave people feeling a little more joyful than when we arrived. In 2026, we took our show Human Instruments to the Camden Fringe at Barons Court Theatre and were praised by review site Rhombus Rota for our “undeniable” chemistry and talent. The review described the group's enthusiasm on stage as “contagious”, which might be our favourite description of what we do! We're available across London and sometimes further afield for Christmas parties, celebrations, community and corporate events, receptions and special occasions. We can tailor our line-up and set to suit your event, from a joyful burst of a cappella at a drinks reception to a longer featured performance. At heart, MixTones is about community, connection and the sheer joy of singing together, and we love getting to share a little of that with every audience we meet.

MixTones are genuinely brilliant to see live. The arrangements are so clever and it’s amazing how much sound they create using just their voices! There’s a great mix of beautiful harmonies and really fun, high-energy numbers, and they’re so warm and engaging on stage. Even my 6-year-old absolutely loved it and was captivated throughout! We both came away smiling.

I’ve seen MixTones perform a number of times and they’re always such a joy to watch. They have a brilliant sound and a really varied repertoire, but what stands out most is the energy and warmth they bring to a performance. You can tell how much they enjoy singing together and that really comes across to the audience. Would absolutely recommend them!

Customer questions

What do your clients love most about your performances?

The joy! We’re often told how much fun we look like we’re having together, and audiences really respond to that. We love surprising people with what the human voice can do, but more than anything we want our performances to feel warm, joyful and full of connection.

Which venues have you performed at in the past?

We’ve performed at venues across West London and beyond, including Barons Court Theatre as part of the Camden Fringe. We’ve sung in theatres, churches and community spaces, and love adapting what we do to suit each venue and audience.

Which artists have you been most influenced by?

We’re influenced by contemporary a cappella groups like Pentatonix, The Swingles and Naturally 7, but our musical tastes are very eclectic! We borrow inspiration from pop, jazz, film music and everything in between, putting our own MixTones spin on songs we love.

Do you have different line-up options?

Yes! Our standard line-up is 6 singers, but we can perform with 4–8 singers depending on your event, space and budget. A smaller line-up is perfect for intimate gatherings and receptions, while 8 singers gives you the full MixTones sound!

What if my timings change after I've booked you?

No problem! We know event plans can change. Just let us know as soon as you can and we'll do our best to accommodate any changes to timings, subject to our singers' availability.

Can you provide an iPod/DJ service before and between your sets?

Yes! We can play a playlist through our PA before and between our sets. If you have a particular playlist or style of music in mind, just let us know and we’ll be happy to accommodate where possible.

How much time do you need to set up?

We usually allow around 30 minutes to get settled, set up and soundcheck our vocal percussion. As an a cappella group our technical setup is nice and simple, so we can often be ready more quickly if needed!

Can I pick the songs you play from the set list?

Absolutely! We’re happy for you to choose your favourites from our set list, and we can also suggest a selection that we think will work brilliantly for your event.

Is all of the equipment (e.g. PA & lighting) included in your quote?

We bring the PA and equipment we need for our standard setup, which is included in our quote. We don’t normally provide event lighting or a full venue PA, but we’re very happy to work with any sound or lighting equipment already at your venue.

Can you learn song requests before the event?

Yes! Given enough notice, we’re happy to consider special song requests. As a cappella arrangements can take a little extra preparation, there may be an additional fee depending on the song and what’s involved, but just ask and we’ll see what we can do!
