Mitali Saraf grew up in India, where she started piano lessons at the age of 7 studying with Antony Aleesh. During this time she competed in all of the Kerala Bhavans Youth Festivals and was awarded prizes for 4 consecutive years. She later studied at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland where she gained a Bachelors Degree in music performance while studying with Professor Fali Pavri. Following her undergraduate studies she was awarded a scholarship to continue on the Masters course studying with Norman Beedie. She has a keen interest in contemporary music, and is a regular performer in the Conservatoire's contemporary music festival PLUG. She regularly plays chamber music and was highly commended in the Ian D watt competition for piano and strings. She has performed around Scotland including in the RCS piano festival in the Edinburgh Festival fringe and with the BBC SSO playing orchestral piano as part of an apprenticeship scheme.
