About Mirko

Multi-Instrumentalist | Guitar, Keys, Drums, Bass & Vocals | Clive Nolan & Damian Wilson Credits | 18 Years’ Experience
Singing guitarist
London

I’m a guitarist, keyboard player, drummer, bassist, singer and composer with 18 years of playing, recording and writing behind me. Guitar was the instrument that started everything for me, but I’ve never really been interested in staying in one lane. Over the years I ended up moving between instruments more and more, partly out of curiosity and partly because I’ve always liked understanding a piece of music from every side of it — not just what the guitarist should be doing, but what the drums are saying, where the bass needs to sit, what the keyboards are adding, and when the best thing to play is nothing at all. I’ve worked with Clive Nolan on guitar, bass and drums, and with Damian Wilson on guitar, keyboards and backing vocals. Those projects have given me the chance to work around musicians I have a huge amount of respect for, while also doing what I enjoy most: getting inside the music and figuring out what the song actually needs. Outside of session and collaborative work, I’ve released four solo piano albums. Piano has always been a very different musical space for me — more intimate, more compositional, and often where I go when I want to write without thinking about bands, production or genre. I’ve also released a progressive rock album where I played all the instruments myself. Guitar, bass, drums, keyboards — the lot. It was probably the most natural way for me to make a record, because I could keep moving between instruments until the whole thing felt right rather than treating every part in isolation. Progressive rock is where a lot of my musical language comes from, but I’m not interested in complexity for the sake of complexity. I love odd time signatures, long arrangements and ridiculous instrumental sections as much as anyone, but I also love a simple part that lands exactly where it should. Sometimes the best guitar part is three notes. Sometimes apparently it needs twelve minutes. As a player I’m comfortable learning existing parts accurately, working from charts or demos, improvising, writing new parts, or taking something fairly rough and helping turn it into a finished arrangement. I’m equally happy being given very specific instructions or being told, “Here’s the track, see what you come up with.” I’m available for recording sessions, remote sessions, live work, dep work and collaborations on guitar, keyboards, drums, bass and vocals. Ultimately, I just like making music with people. If you need someone who can come in for one instrument and do the job properly, great. If halfway through the project you suddenly realise you also need a bass line, some keyboards, backing vocals and a drummer, I can probably save you a few phone calls.
